fatso-wide

When one hears the name Fatso it conjures thoughts of playground taunting, sneers and jeers; the hard knocked consequences of living and learning, birthing self-awareness, self-acceptance, and the acknowledgment of others, flaws and all. As his moniker suggests, Fatso’s personal journey of self-knowledge and self-edification shine through in his music

Fatso’s major break came when he was almost signed to, hip hop group-Lost Boyz frontmans’, Mr. Cheeks Entertainment imprint at the age of 16. However, the agreement was compromised at the hands of former management. The silver lining, fatso was featured on an independent television show as the first artist of Mr. Cheeks Entertainment in 1997.

Fatso has graced stages all along the east coast. He has opened for many artists such as Carmon, D’wayne Wiggins from (Tony, Toni, Toné), Ruff Endz, Cap One and Grenique. One major highlight, his performance with Washington DC’s own Backyard Band courtesy of Big G (Slim Charles) from HBO television series, The Wire. The sky is limitless for this talented arrtist. We introduce to you Fatso.

Where you reppin:

West Palm Beach, Florida & Queens, New York. They are both considered homes to me.

Introduce Yourself:

Hello..my name is Fatso!

Current projects we should be looking out for:

A few CURRENT projects to look for in no particular order..

*Independent EP collaboration with Producer/Artist, Van Ark of The Bionic Megaz, featuring myself & songstress-Tamika “Love” Jones of DC.

The EP will be released & distributed domestically as well as internationally, in Europe & possibly Japan (we are also looking to get the project backed by Koch records). Group collaborative called, The Dojo, featuring myself, Wes Ellington Felton & again-Tamika “Love” Jones.. We are currently working on a full-length album together that we plan to release in mid to late 2010. There are currently 2 singles available from this effort, one of which has a video on youtube. That song is called, “If You Wonder” by The Dojo.

I am also working on my NEW INDIVIDUAL project which will either be another EP or a full-length album.

I am working the business and creative strategy out for that result. I have written and recorded several songs for this project to date and still consider myself in the creative process. There are currently no leaks from this project but I plan to make some pieces available in the near future!

The EP or Album will be titled: Volume. With no rush or crunch times, from my management [Mrbriggsmanagement.com] I am looking forward to a SURPRISE 2010 RELEASE DATE!!!

These are just a few of my current dealings.. I have also been active in MANY artist collaborations & features on several different projects. The likes of Dynez Dennis, Clara T, LB Muzac, Cristalis, A.R.Milez, Dutch Diamond, and many more! I am also being featured in a play production that was recently featured at the Wilmington, Delaware-Fringe festival for 3 days and will be in NY later this month. The production is titled, The Ass Chronicles by L. Empress Joyner

Previous work we should know about:

My first OFFICIAL EP titled, “Fatso PRESENTS The Skinny” is currently available thru iTunes, Rhapsody. EMusic, Amazon & Napster and you can check out some of my songs at reverbnation.com/fatsoworld

Musical Inspirations:

Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow and everything & everyone in between that!

When was the 1st time you fell in love with hip-hop?

I was born at the top of the 80′s, that’s when I fell in love with hip-hop, been in love ever since!

If you had to pick one song that defines your career to date, what song would that be?

“No Such Thing” by John Mayer, simply put.

Why should the readers and fans give you a shot and listen to your music?

Because, WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER!!! Plus I know the secret to happiness, just sayin!

If you could take one record on a deserted island with you, what album would that be?

Gonna have to go with the same artist again today! Any Given Sunday (the live album) by John Mayer, works everytime.

Any shout outs or last words?

Thank you for this wonderful interview & opportunity..

BIG LOVE to J. Rizzle & The ENTIRE KevinNottingham.com FAMLY!!!
