MaG: This Ain’t Rap [prod by Remot]

All I have to say about this track is WOW! MaG is not playing around. After dropping his $5 Cover [download] project last month with G.C., MaG is back on his grind with a full length album… and he’s giving it away for free! I tell you, people are too generous these days…

The album is called I Ain’t Goin Back To Retail and is schedule for release on December 22nd and sponsored by HypeLG and DopeCouture.com. The first leak, “This Ain’t Rap,” is produced by Remot and it is one of the best beats I’ve heard all year. Really, this track is that good. Let’s hope the rest of the album stacks up! If I know MaG, I’m sure it will.

Funny he says “this ain’t rap” yet doesn’t break outta the usual “beatloop + 16-bar verses” formula. He uses alotta lyrical cliches to pad out his rhyme schemes too. (i.e. “I ain’t hot, I’m scorching” and “Boxcutter flow”)

Beat is good on its own, but I don’t think an instrumental this traditional-sounding should ever be used for a song titled “This Ain’t Rap.” If you must, though, at least throw in some variations, breakdowns, additional layers, etc. instead of having the same loop from start to finish, ya know?
