Top 10 Comebacks: 2009

by Justin on December 31, 2009 · 10 comments

2009 brought a lot of successful comebacks to the hip hop game. This year gave us the reemergence of Mos Def & Souls Of Mischief as well as the return of southern mainstays like B.G., Big Mike & Trick Daddy. Slick Rick made it known he’s still got it with show stealing verses on The Ecstatic & Dynas’ The Apartment. Del The Funky Homosapien rebounded from a disappoiting 2008 with his free album and a collaboration with Tame One. After years of delays, Raekwon finally delivered his long awaited Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 as well as releasing a few mixtapes & contributing to Chamber Music. Fellow Wu member Inspectah Deck also experienced a resurgence with his standout verses on OB4CL2, Chamber Music and his diss of Joe Budden. Check out the top 10 after the jump.

LOL @ Inspectah Deck, he may have come back, but did actually drop something dope? And who in the world is Big Mike…

He ripped it on OB4CL2 and the Budden diss was good when it looked like he might be done after 8 Diagrams.

Def agree with Rae. OB4CL2 was a make or break album for him.

@ Vatkeezy Ouch at not knowing Big Mike.

Um, B.G. Did anyone hear that album? He should have been 11.

Even though I don’t know who he is or am familiar with his work doesn’t mean he isn’t deserving to be on this list.

I thought B.G. did a good job after all the delays on his album and it being a major label release. He topped Juvenile’s comeback album too and they’ll obviously be compared.
