Well said Nigel. Curren$y was definitely in the running for my #10 spot as were all the honorable mentions. In the end, I went w/ Bun B because of his performance on UGK 4 Life and his many dope guest appearances this year.

i think Curren$y should be more than an honorable mention. he dropped 3 dope projects (This Ain't No Mixtape, How Fly, & Jet Files) after a busy year in 2008.

Brother Ali is on Justin's list. Royce was our top Emcee last year. I don't think he had the same output as he did last year. I agree that Gun Harmonizing, Warriors, and add in Street Hop 2010 were some of the best songs this year.

I don't have them on my list...ugggh.

Yeah, some Brother Ali should be on there somewhere. Even Royce. Dude is a beast. Joell should definitely take the list this year as he was lights out on whatever he touched. Truth be told, I'm tired of people rhyming over other people's beats but he was one that I would always check out because it knew it would be fresh. Good stuff gentlemen.

Dope list, its a shame Street Hop is slightly cluttered otherwise Royce had a phenomenal album on his hands. His meh performance on the Slaughterhouse record didnt help (Sound Off, Not Tonight and Cuckoo notwithstanding) but stuff like Gun Harmonising and warriors were among the years best music.

I would put Brother Ali on the top of the list. Dude released A LOT of material (one EP, one album, some songs, and a lot of features).

Joell ripped every track he touched this year from his joint with Brother Ali/Freeway, the Slaughterhouse album, his mixtapes, and every instrumental he touched this year.

Sean Price was my number one until Joell went on to destroy all of those instrumentals.

Raekwon was in show and prove this year with OB4CL2, Blood on Chef's Apron, and the guest spots he had from Chamber Music, Blak Roc, Jadakiss, Meth/Red, and the freestyles he dropped.

Sha Stimuli gets on my list for his dope album. Lyrically heavy. Nuh said.

Fashawn's mixtape and album earns his way on my list.

Torae killed Double Barrel, his feature with Sha, and DJ Spinna's "Lyrics is Back." Dope stuff this year.

Sky's album was top notch lyrically. In addition, to the album his mixtape was fresh from start to finish.

J. Cole dropped a mixtape that played like an album and had great appearances on Jay and Wale's album. He came on my list because he was able to hang with Jay, Mos, and Talib on the most recent leaked track from RE.

eLzhi dropped a mixtape late that blew away a lot of albums this year. Check "The Crowd" for proof.

Mos Def's album is one of my favorites from this year. He was on point lyrically on that album and everything he touched this year.

Jay Electronica makes my list off of two songs. Exhibit C and Holiday featuring Mos Def.
