You might not know the name but you know the music. King I Divine has been the backbone to some of the great music coming from much of hip hop’s emerging new talent. The talented producer has crafted productions for BLCTXT, D.Julien, Tito Lopez & more in 2009 and 2010 looks to bring bigger & better things. With his collaborations and solo instrumental tapes showcasing his talent, King I Divine is a name to remember. Here’s your chance to get to know the beast on the boards known as King I Divine.

Introduce Yourself:

Peace and blessings, I’m King I Divine, a music producer.

Where You Reppin:

I’m reppin Queens, NY, shout out to ATL that’s where I reside currently.

Why the name King I Divine?

Well, K.I.D = King I Divine in the supreme alphabet. I’m a big Wu-tang fan; I heard Ghostface say it in “Who’s the Champion” and I felt like the name King I Divine described me..

Who are your musical inspirations?

RZA, Premo, Pete Rock, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, Neptunes and basically anybody that makes dope music.

What’s your equipment setup?

MPC 1000 and Reason 4

Past works readers should know about:

Crown Jewelz Beat Tape 1 and 2, “Flipped”: Jodeci Edition, Acknowledgment EP, Stricklee Tito Lopez EP and The Hip Hop Experiment.

Current projects you’re working on:

I may have some tracks on Jabee and ADDLib’s Black Cotton 2 coming out this year. I’m working with BLCTXT on another project. I’m also working with D.Julien as well on some really dope joints.

You produced some gems last year for BLCTXT, D.Julien & Tito Lopez. How did these collaborations come together?

Well BLCTXT and I used to work at the same job. I liked his style as an emcee and he liked mine as a producer, so we started working together. I was introduced to D. Julien and Tito Lopez by DJ Dame Hustle. He hosted the The Hip Hop Experiment and The Stricklee Tito Lopez projects of which I was the sole producer. The emcees were really talented, so I reached out to them and started a working relationship.

You’ve also given listeners insight into your beatmaking process with your videos on Youtube. Why’d you decide to do this?

I used to watch beatmaking videos , which inspired me to purchase my MPC. One day I decided to make a beatmaking video of my own, and I got a lot of views and positive feedback One of my goals in music is to be an inspiration, and I’m able to do so through my videos.

If you had to pick one song that defined your career up to this date, what would it be?

“We’ve Only just Begun” by The Carpenters.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one album to listen to, what would it be?

Enter the Wu-Tang (36 chambers)

Any shout outs or last words?

Shout out to the heads that make dope music, all my supporters from all around the world. Every artist that I’ve worked with in the past or will work with in the future.lol My cuz Metaphysic, Wifey, My family and friends and to Kev and Justin for giving me this opportunity and checking my music… P.E.A.C.E
