Soundclash is New Orleans’ Premier Beat Battle, artist showcase, and industry mixer. Producers go head to head, playing 45 second clips of three beats per single elimination round. There will be a DJ set up with two side inputs for each producer to cue up his or her music and a mic to introduce himself or herself from a CD. We’ll have a panel of established local judges that will take into consideration crowd appeal, originality, and execution in giving a score. In this head to head, single elimination competition, the winner will be the producer with the highest score. The winner will receive a cash prize, photo shoot from TheImmeg.com, a block of studio time from The HUT, a segment on Hip-Hop and Fashion (Cox 76), and a radio spot on Tygah Woods Radio. Also they win a chance for a free trip to compete in regional beat battles as well as another major beat battle such as the Red Bull Big Tune, and other prizes from our sponsors. Soundclash was fortunate to place 4 battlers from our beat battle in Red Bull Big Tune with Hannibal coming in 2nd place in the finals.

For more info including event dates and how to enter, hit the jump.

We will also submit the coverage to all local media outlets and many major media outlets as the winner will be invited to defend his or her crown at the subsequent Soundclash. In between rounds, up-and-coming New Orleans hip-hop artists will showcase their skills on the mainstage to build their respective local followings. We’ve had up and comers such as Dee-1, Nesby Phips, Na’Tee, A. Levy, Truth Universal, Skipp Coon, Lyrikill, TheSekondElement, and TNC Boyz as well as national acts like Curren$y, Rapper Big Pooh, and One Be Lo all grace the Soundclash stage.

We personally know of many talented producers in the area and would like to help them showcase their talents to receive major placements on albums. We believe this will help the New Orleans hip-hop scene as a whole and bring our true-school hip-hop contribution into the public eye. The Soundclash has a three part goal. 1.) Help producers showcase their talents and hopefully gain placement on various projects. 2.) Give artist a venue to showcase their talents and help them to build up their respective following. 3.) Build unity and help establish New Orleans underground hip-hop scene. This month’s battle is Jan 23rd at Maison 508 Frenchman St New Orleans, La. Next month’s battle is Feb 20th with a scheduled guest judge.

Soundclash has directly participated in Hip Hop for Hope 2009, NOLA DMC DJ Competition, New Orleans Red Bull Big Tune 2009 and Ladies First respectively.
