Just Released Today [02/02]

Today is a day that I’ve been waiting for for a good while now. Not only is tonight the premiere of the last season of LOST, but Statik Selektah’s new album drops today. But aside from my favorites, there are some other great albums available today. Another highly anticipated album is the Green Ghost Project from Styles P and DJ Green Lantern. Others may be looking to check the new Lil Wayne album, although it leaked months ago. And there’s also the new project from Madlib and Guilty Simpson. I go to Best Buy and there are 180 Lil Wayne CD’s (I counted), 1 Styles P/Green Lantern, and 0 Statik Selektah. There were two Obie Trice/MoSS albums (Special Reserve). So I’m hoping in the middle of March there will be two Statik Selektah albums since the Obie joint was released in December 09.

the statik album ain’t that good. for me, all of his albums have about 3-4 good songs, and then falls off.

Best Buy has CDs in stock based on local trends, so I’m normally out of range too, Thomas. I live in Arkansas, and It took 2+ months to get that J Dilla (Jay Stay Paid) album that came out last year, and I considered that a “major” release. I’ve got to where I buy most of my music digitally through iTunes or Amazon, since I don’t have to physically go anywhere or wait for it. Funny thing is, I was SO against digital music until iTunes dropped their DRM, now I can’t get enough! I think last album I bought physically was probably Slaughterhouse or Raekwon’s OB4CL2.

@Keith N Dem have you DL Statik’s GTA “Lost & Damned EP?” Its 6 dope tracks! I enjoyed the KN “Selekted & Collekted 09″ mix as well.

@FUHNAHTIK: na, ill check it out, thanks. it’s not that i think he is a bad producer. he makes some dope stuff, and i appreciate that he is keeping that golden area of hip hop alive. i just think people overrate him.
