DJ Premier, Pete Rock & 9th Wonder Doing “Secret Album” Together?

The DJ Premier Blog is reporting that DJ Premier & Pete Rock recently said on a Montreal radio show that they are recording a “secret project” with 9th Wonder. It’s hard not to be skeptical about this one though. Why would they call it a “secret” and then announce it on a random radio interview? With this day & age of the media, they had to know this would get around. All we can do is wait and see but this collaboration definitely would become one of the most anticipated projects in years for all hip hop heads. Hit the jump for the audio of the interview.

GOD DAMN. I would very much love to hear a three way collab album from 3 (okay, maybe 2) of the greatest ever… but I can’t help but be skeptical and ask whether I would prefer to hear 3 seperate projects rather than a mix of the three in one? I guess it depends how the album is put together, nevertheless this album is gonna BANG… hope that this project comes out soon… been waiting on PR for a while now

Damn I should’ve asked them myself last Saturday night lol dayummmm it’s going to be tight

im really hoping it isn’t 9thmatic. how about 5 beats from each, and a guest load of emcee’s, that would be perfect. maybe throw damu in that group. and buckwild.

Dang three producers that did their other halfs(LB, Guru, CL) dirty to gain some more fame lol. When there is usually that many stars on a album together, most of the time the album never lives up to the hype. But I would check it out anyways

Def would be every true hip hop fans DREAM come true. How about a double disc album, 25-30 tracks deep. Damn that would
    be great.

How did Premo & PR do Guru & CL dirty?

I would have been excited about this 3-4 years ago. Still have faith in Preemo and Pete Rock, but ever since 9th changed his style, it aint hitting for me. Preemo and Pete have still kind of stayed true to their style, but 9th’s current style is not consistent with his past sound (hello, played out handclaps). Before, he was the dopest Fruity Loop producer who could do no wrong and now he is just an average MPC user at best. I probably would still check this out, but 3 years ago I would have bought this album without even hearing a snippet. These days, I’m probably going to have to preview it or hear some examples first.

9thmatic also better not be on there, either. His yes men need to shut up and quit telling him that ish is hot.

Also, still have great respect for Pete Rock but he has changed his style slightly. THat PJ’s track he did with Raekwon is the Pete we know and love, though. Damu seems to sound more like Pete Rock than Pete Rock (just sayin).

Preemo has always been consistent and he knows what works. He doesn’t f with the formula.

mannnnn, this collabo would be a dream come true!

As long as 9th and Pete Rock leave the mic alone I’ll be good. This like many other “super” projects never come to light.

why is everyone frontin on these three. These are the few real hip hop heads left in the game and I personally can’t wait 4 this album to drop. 9th is the heir to all that Pete n Primo built and I think this collabo shows the respect all three have for each other in keepin their styles real and true. And if they drop the MC’s they all work with on this album WHOA the streets will definitely wild out!!!!!!

I do have to cosign Admbmb on this one. I just got that 9th and Murs album and I do have to say “PASS”. Though Pete and Premier are always fire.

Question: Does any one know what happened to the “CRS” (Lupe, Kanye, Pharrell) album?

    San Diego loves you all,
    Simba
