Today is a very sad day for hip hop as we have lost a legend; one of the greatest emcees to ever rock the mic. Since hearing the news of Guru’s passing this morning, we here at KevinNottingham.com have been at a loss of words on how to report this tragedy. Hip Hop has skipped a beat and as far are we’re concerned nothing else in hip hop matters today. So with that said, we are calling for an official 24 hour moment of silence on KevinNottingham.com. No posts, no comments for 24 hours. Commencing today at 12:45pm EDT until tomorrow at 12:45 pm EDT.

R.I.P. Guru

He will b always in our hearts. Guru means true Hip Hop. I’ll start my silence right now till tomorrow. He passed away, but now he gots no pain no more, he will find good ol’ homies where he at. And one more time the sky will shine with another great show from Guru . Life after life… Cancer switchs off so many life, so many dreams….I know what I’m talking about …
Kevin ,I ‘d luv to make a Project with all of us, and then homage all those who suffer Cancer now, and all those that passed away too. Maybe is an idea , but we could make it true together…
U know I’m here to put my lil brick of this building.
Peace y’all and forever luv to Guru!!!!!!!!!

    A 24 hr moment of silence is beautiful. I’m sorry Kevin… I can’t be silent…

It appears there is something terribly wrong with regard to Solar’s roll in Guru’s life over the last several years including Guru’s passing.

Guru, his talent, gifts, legacy, family, friends and fans deserve to be honored with no questions or controversy surrounding the last years of his life.

One would think someone (Solar) who truly appreciated and cared for Guru would not allow a statement released upon his death that clearly contradicts previous press releases regarding the status of Guru’s health that he was in a coma and raise further questions.

Of course, I refer to the statement reportedly released by Guru’s PR company which contained a letter reportedly written by Guru in his final days (while he was in a coma?).

“I have suffered with this illness for over a year,” he wrote. “I have exhausted all medical options.”

“I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.”

According to the statement posted on the Yo! Promotions website Guru had tried to “keep his harrowing diagnosis private”.

My question is the obvious one… if Solar has been acting in Guru’s best interest and his intentions have been honorable and righteous, why is he not honoring Guru and his memory now by explaining his actions, if for nothing else, to protect his own credibility. Without some further explanation… by my observation and evidently many others, including his family, the circumstances surrounding the last years and months prior to Guru passing seem questionable and feel disturbing.

I think we should all honor Guru by demanding an explanation… Just my opinion.

R.I.P. Guru. God rest your soul.
    Peace
