Dealing with the harsh realities that rap music often does, it isn’t hard to find songs that are seemingly void of positive messages or themes. Trek Life’s “Can’t Complain,” from his J. Bizness-produced Rhymes Within Reason EP, takes a refreshingly optimistic outlook on life’s hardships. Trek calls “Can’t Complain’s” J. Bizness beat “flawless.” The instrumental is a mood-lifter by itself with its light samples, keyboard and flute among them. Add Wyanne Vaughn’s voice in the mix and the song reaches a whole new level of chillness; her voice compliments the instrumentals with her laid back chorus, “Despite all of the pain/rain, I get no pain at all”.
Trek Life’s Everything Changed Nothing, produced entirely by Oddisee, drops July 27th via Mello Music Group.
