I’m having a hard time keeping track of LMNO this year. I think he’s released a new album every single month so far. One would say strong work ethic, another would say overkill. At any rate, here’s his latest video off his last project, Determined To Fly, his 5th full length album this year. Slow down, my dude!

He released Banger Management at the beginning of July. I’ve only liked Selective Hearing Pt. 2 and Determined To Fly thus far. A lot of filler if you ask me.
I almost feel pressured to keep up with his releases this year becuz, i’m thinking that if i don’t listen to them now, i’ll never go back to get them all in the end. There’s just so much shit that keeps coming out and not enough of my friends are listening to the amount of music that I am – to where someone’s riding around listening to at least some of the material I’ve come across. So i feel you on the “slow down, my dude”. Only becuz i’m not getting enough time to digest these albums and once he’s released them all, I doubt I’ll see as much promotion on them again. I still haven’t listened to “Selective Hearing part 2″ yet.
This video’s different. You have to watch it in full-screen mode to notice everything though. This is a lot of output for one artist, i expect to see him performing a lot as well.
I admire dudes hustle and work ethic. With that said…some of the music is mediocre at best. Give him respect for making an attempt at something like this. Has something like this been done before….full album every month?
It hasn’t been done before and i’m sure it’s becuz no one’s ever seen a need to. One album in a year’s time is good enough for any artist who puts a lot of work into it. Ten albums is something to be collected over a many of years IMO. I agree, some of this material could’ve easily been condensed but, he may be shooting for a different goal.
Coming from a fan, I would also agree that there is maybe too much material come from LMNO. I wouldnt say overkill, but he is borderline. IMO he is really underrated, but he doesn;t get a lot of fan credit, therefore he shouldve chosen his steps more wisely.
I’ve been following his releases this year though, and although I havent purchased all the music, everything I’ve heard has been pretty incredible. At the very least, pick up the “Selective Hearing Part 2″ LP (Kev Brown & LMNO have insane chemistry) and I’m looking forward to him finishing these “10 albums in 2010″ with Astronote, DJ Babu and KeyKool.
With that said, he makes dope low budget music videos.
IMO he’s made his music disposable. Why should any of his listeners pick up the latest album he’s promoting when he’s just gonna deliver a new one. I don’t know why he’s doing this really, seems to me he’s losing a lot of money. None of these albums have been well promoted and they just kinda drop out of nowhere as well.
I’ve never heard of dude myself….interested in seeing how the material turns out with 10 albums in one yr (really more than that b/c he dropped 2 or 3 in late 3rd/4th qtr last yr I believe). Thus far just two stand out joints to me.
He’s probably doing it because he knows everyone is just gonna download his albums anyways. If he took 1 year to make one album or 1 day would it matter?? It would just get bootlegged anyways…might as well make 10 in a year and keep his name alive for a time. Maybe a new listener goes “I need to get more of this guy’s albums” and he gains another legitimate fan that way?
It really doesn’t matter how many albums he makes or how long they take to make it’s about quality. If the material isn’t up to par then he won’t gain any new fans. To have to shift through 60 songs to find the best 20 or so is a daunting task. At the end of all of this how many quality songs will he have? 20-35 out of 100 (if that)? He can keep his name alive from working the projects. Releasing singles, video’s, hooking up with a site to break down the album (or on his own site), etc. At the end of the day the quality won’t be there with this much material.
