Last Thursday Strange Fruit Project (S1, Myth, & Myone) released their latest album, A Dreamer’s Journey via Bandcamp. I believe the album flew under the radar because of the odd release date (a Thursday), Wayne mania, and the holiday weekend all contributing to the lack of attention the album received. I wanted to share one of my favorite songs from the album, “1,2.” The album features production mostly from S1 with shared credits and/or co-production credits from Caleb, Grey, Glen, and Mike Chav. The album features Grey, Rhymefest, Pumah, Yolanda Johnson and others.

Detroit MC Louie P. Newton FINALLY releases his debut project/album, Here For A Reason. The project has been a most anticipated project (by me) and a long time coming since we first debut the project’s first leak, “The Bottom.” Peep what Newton has to say about the project.

If “HFAH” isn’t highly anticipated it is absolutely long overdue. Newton has created a body of work that is uniquely refreshing, sonically, lyrically and conceptually. In an era where it seems that mainstream and even underground artist are searching for identities, Newton only provides the listener exactly who he is. The project’s subtitle (The First Horcrux) fittingly references the Harry Potter book series. The Intro track explains that a horcrux is an object in which one has placed a part of their soul. HFAR definitely has soul if nothing more.

I’ve given the album three spins since Friday and it’s exactly what us 70 babies want, beats and rhymes. While browsing the net, I stumbled upon a nice surprise. It’s always good to see a new album from the Dungeon Family’s Witchdoctor. Everyone knows OutKast & Goodie Mob but Witchdoctor, along with Killer Mike & Cool Breeze, are the unsung heroes of the crew. The Georgia emcee released his latest album Dracula (Transylvania) in September via his own DEZONLY1 label [purchase]. ”Best Years” is featured on the new LP and the music video features cameos by Khujo Goodie, T-Mo Goodie & Cool Breeze.
