You’ve probably already seen this on the net somewhere this past weekend but this is too exciting and awesome not to be appreciated with his own post on KN.com! Blogger Donovan Strain from MurkAvenue.com, took the time to break down the lyrics of Ice Cube‘s classic track “It Was A Good Day” and found out what day exactly Cube is talking about. It looks like that HRSMN album won’t be happening after all. Ras Kass posted this video of him announcing he’s no longer a member of the supergroup. There’s no exact reason given, but many are assuming it’s because he doesn’t want to associate with Canibus following his string of dissing the likes of DJ Premier, Slaughterhouse & J. Cole.

Blu Gets Called Out At Live Show By Dregs One

A new video was uploaded to Youtube of a fan calling out Blu during a recent show in San Francisco for a subpar performance. It just so happens that fan was Bay Area emcee Dregs One, who we’ve featured here before. As you’ll see in the video, Dregs tells Blu he’s not “ripping it right” which provokes Exile to basically kick him out of the place. But by the uploader’s account, it was justified:

While I don’t agree with the fan jumping on stage, I think the dude was right with Blu putting on a weak show. He was wasted, forgetting his lines, mumbling, and literally leaning on the mic stand for balance in the corner the entire show. Such a shame when the dude is obviously so talented, getting that trashed where he can’t put on a decent show. Let’s hope he gets his thing together…

You hear the stories of Blu delivering these half-assed shows all the time and now here’s some visual evidence of it. The guy is a major talent, but he continues to release mediocre material and do things like this.

Whoa, MC Shan really goes in on Marley Marl in this new interview series called True Stories. The homie DJ Pocket hit me with this sit-down he had with the former Juice Crew member, who addresses a statement Masta Ace made about why Shan did not appear on the classic posse cut “The Symphony.” Not only does Shan say Marley Marl didn’t pay anyone who appeared on In Control Volume 1, but he also drops the bombshell of saying Marl did not produce many of his credited tracks. MC Shan goes on to say the likes of Big Daddy Kane & Biz Markie made their own beats while Marley Marl took credit for them. Who knows how much of this is true, but hopefully Marl and some other members of the Juice Crew will share their side of the story.

How To Get Your Music Posted in Hip Hop Blogs: A Step By Step Guide on How To Get Blogs to Post Your Music

2012 is officially here and believe it or not, there are still artists out there that do not know how to properly promote their music. This week alone, I have gotten emails with either no subject line, no photos attached or no streaming links preview the music. A couple of years ago, I posted a few tips on how to get your music posted her on KN. Now, hip hop artist Rob Jay has put together an e-book telling you exactly how he’s gotten posted on various blogs. I haven’t read the book and personally I don’t think anyone has all the answers. I’ve said it before, a formula does not exist. BUT that doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways that will help you get noticed. I have to commend Rob Jay for taking advantage of this opportunity to sell a “how to” e-book. It’s information that really needs to get out there.

I don’t personally co-sign this book, as I haven’t read it. But our Editor-In-Chief Justin has and highly recommends it:
