This week, we get to remix a remix: “Jingling Baby (Remixed and Still Jingling)”. The original version was on LL’s Walking With A Panther album. Hit the jump for the complete rules for the contest and the links to the samples you will need for your beat. Final remixes are due next Sunday, March 21st @ 3:00pm Eastern Daylight Time. Good luck!

I really didn’t think anyone would come close to the original “Mama Said Knock You Out” beat by Marley Marl, but after listening to these remixes, some of you cats really brought it! It was a tough week to judge, though. You’ll see after the jump that we all had our own favorites. But there was one that came out on top. This remix proved that you really didn’t need to stray too far from the original to have a winning remix.  Hit the jump to check the results…

Duck Down Music and 2K Sports have partnered to present an exciting contest for all aspiring producers and MCs to create unique and original music, along with the special opportunity to have their song included in the upcoming soundtrack for NBA 2K11, the next iteration of the hugely popular NBA 2K series.

Please note know the KN.com crew has nothing to do with this contest. We are only providing the information for those interested.  A good portion of the information regarding the contest is after the cut, but I would read the official rules and regulations before entering.

On Week 9 of our Mama Said Knock You Out Remix Project, we get to the first sample free track from the album, “Milky Cereal.” Initially I thought about leaving this track out of the contest, but it’s such a great song. So what we’re gonna do this week is leave the creativity up to you. Use whatever you want to make this remix… but remember, it IS a remix, so we want to stay true to the original. We’ve included the OG “Milky Cereal” here if anyone wants to sample it or use it as reference. There’s no telling what the judges will decide to pick this week… we may decided to pick the beat that best duplicates the original. Who knows! This week should be fun for everyone though.

Hit the jump for the complete rules for the contest and the links to the samples you will need for your beat. Final remixes are due next Sunday, March 14th @ 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Good luck!

I think this is the one track I’ve been looking forward to hearing a remix from, the title track to the album “Mama Said Knock You Out.” Marly Marl samples James Brown’s “Funky Drummer,” The Chicago Gangsters’ “Gangster Boogie,” Sly & The Family Stone’s “Trip to Your Heart” and “Sing a Simple Song.” But the famous loop that you hear in this song comes from “Trip to Your Heart” and we definitely wanna hear that so that’s the only track we are requiring you to sample. Have fun with this one… stay true to the original, but make it your own!

Hit the jump for the complete rules for the contest and the links to the samples you will need for your beat. Final remixes are due next Sunday, March 7th @ 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Good luck!

So we are about halfway through the beat portion of our Mama Said Knock You Out Remix Project. I think it’s going quite well! This week, we’ll be remixing “Farmer’s Blvd.” The seventh track on the album samples Willie Hutch’s “Brothers Gonna Work it Out” and “Mack Man,” Barry White’s “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little More, Babe,” and Billy Preston’s “I Wrote A Simple Song.” Marley Marl went IN on this one and I’m sure you will too. The main sample we want you to use in your beat this week is “Mack Man,” but feel free to incorporate any of the others. Remember, there are no acapellas in this contest. Beats only, and then we’ll get some emcees to rap over them.

Hit the jump for the complete rules for the contest and the links to the samples you will need for your beat. Final remixes are due next Sunday, February 28th @ 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Good luck!
