The homie’s up in Toronto’s Real Frequency are running a contest now through August 17th to give you a chance to win Eminem’s entire discography (Slim Shady LP through Relapse). All you have to do is answer 5 simple questions, but you have to check out their site for the questions. This contest is only open to Canadian residents, so I can’t even enter. I hear we have a lot of Canadian readers though, so make sure you check it out. I like this contest idea… maybe I should start giving away CDs. Need sponsors though. Anyway, hit the jump for all the details…
Here is part 2 of the Inside the Mind series featuring Donny Goines. Here’s some words from Donny who also announces a special contest everyone should enter!
“What’s good people? Here is the second installment of this mini documentary series which focuses on the aspect of music. I would also like to announce a special contest for everyone out there. I will be giving away one Clarion MiND (Mobile Internet Navigation Device) to a lucky winner out there. The rules are simple. Follow me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/donnygoines) and reply to me with the words @Clarion Contest. You have until August 30th to enter. A winner will be announced August 31st via Twitter. It’s that simple. Good luck and enjoy the video. (Filmed and Directed by Mills Miller Media)”
Ramosent.com and KevinNottingham.com have teamed up in the past to give lucky fans chances to win tickets to the Boot Camp Clik on stage, as well as the Gza. This time, we are slowing things down a bit and delivering fans a chance to see Oscar winner, Grammy nominated, and multitalented entertainer: Jamie Foxx.
The Blame It 2009 Tour so far as been a huge success, with rave reviews coming in about Jamie’s multi-faceted performance and his tremendous showmanship. He is sure to fill up Toronto’s Sound Academy venue and will certainly deliver to the great crowd.
And there you have it… 14 weeks in and our Blueprint Remix Contest officially comes to a close. It was a great ride and I’d personally like to thank each and every one of you who came through to share your talent. Special props go out to DJ BlacqueStarr and my man Thomas who helped me judge week to week.
The final winner should be announced next weekend, followed by the official release of our Blueprint 2009 Remixtape. I’m already listening to it as a whole and you guys did one hell of a job recreating The Blueprint. As soon as the artwork is complete, we’re gonna promo this tape heavily.
In addition to the Remixtape, we’re gonna be doing something special with these beats with emcee MaG. It will be a project similar to the illTravis one we did earlier this year with Trav Williams. So congrats to those who won and were able to be a part of it. No release date yet on that project… sometime later this year.
Hit the jump to hear the remixes submitted for “Lyrical Exercise (Breathe Easy)”… and make sure you check out our new ATCQ beat contest!
Now that we’ve finished up with our weekly Blueprint Remix Contest, I still want to keep you all occupied until we launch our next weekly contest (which probably won’t be for a while). KevinNottingham.com is teaming up with DJ Chong Wizard for a tribute mixtape to my favorite hip hop group of all time… A Tribe Called Quest. Chong came to me a few weeks ago with the idea and I immediately wanted to hop on board. But I told him, we can’t do this mixtape without the help from some of my Nottinghammers! Chong already has a good list of emcees who have already dedicated themselves to hop on the project. All we need now are beats. That’s where you come in. Hit the jump for all the details.
In Week 13 we remixed the remix to “Girls, Girls, Girls.” Kanye’s take on the Just Blaze hit was so refreshing that Jay laid new verses down for it. A lot of the remixes submitted definitely were Kanye inspired, and some were inspired from another planet.. lol. Hit the jump to see who the judges were feeling and the winner for Week 13…
Here are the remixes to the remix of “Girls, Girls, Girls.” We’ll call this Part 2. With only 34 entries, Week 13 was a little lighter than previous weeks. Hopefully everyone was able to get their remixes in on time with the extension and all. Check em out after the cut…
We are this close to finishing up the remixtape. With Week 12’s winner being announced here, that means there are only 2 more weeks left for us to judge. Ya man Thomas was on vacation this last week, so it was just up to DJ BlacqueStarr and I to determine the winner. Though the majority of our picks were all over the place, the first place winner was unanimous. Check it after the cut…
What, what, what?!?! I thought last week was the last week in the Blueprint Remix Contest? Nope. Thanks to RodLoOs for coming through with an acapella that I was missing, we are gonna do one more week. This week we’re remixing a bonus track off The Blueprint, “Breathe Easy (Lyrical Excercise).” This Just Blaze-produced track displays some of Hov’s skills at his finest. The sample used is Stanley Clarke’s “Got To Find My Own Place.” This is officially the last week of our Blueprint Remix Contest, so make it count!
Also, for Week 13, we are extending the submission deadline to 9pm eastern time, due to the outage we had on the site yesterday. So you still have about 11 more hours to get your remix in for last week. We’ll have the results from Week 12 posted today as well.
If you’re new to the contest, read the rules. I think the rules mention uploading your remix to a final sharing service. If so, disregard and upload via the embedded widget below. Please remember to name your mp3 with your name only when uploading via the widget below. If you made changes and have to reupload, add -FINAL after your name. Remix is due next Sunday (August 2nd) by 3pm Eastern Time. Good luck!
The homie John Public is gonna be performing at Voodoo Lounge in NYC tonight with the Brown Bag All-Stars andDJ Kool Herc. Doors open at 9pm. So if you’re in the area, check em out.
Also, John is doing a contest in promotion for his upcoming album, to be released later this summer. I’ll let John tell you all the details…
“To mark the release of my album ReGifted: Thrift Shop Experience later this summer, I’m debuting a new viral series and contest that focuses on lyricism. The video concept brings together myself and other emcees to drop 16-24 bars of our lyrical best. The contest: whenever a video is posted with Add Lyrics in the subject line from my YouTube channel (youtube.com/JohnPublicFlipcam), the first person to transcribe my particular verse from the video and add it into a comment on my channel will win the prize for that video.
This time around, I’m offering a $20 gift certificate to Fat Beats in NYC. No worries, I can cop the prize and send it to you if you’re from out of town. Other prizes for later videos will include iPods, gift certificates to Best Buy, consulting advice, original clothing, concert tickets and more. While there is no preferential treatment, subscribers to this channel stand the best chance of winning. Peace and good music!”
Last month, Loud.com did a remix contest for the emcees to spit over Lil Jon’s latest joint “I Do.” Now Loud.com is teaming up with KevinNottingham.com to give the producers a shot at remixing this track!
Check out the video above for the details from Lil Jon himself. Then register at Loud.com, download the “I Do” acapella, and upload your remix. Fans will vote for their favorite remix by text message. The top 20 entries by August 21st will be submitted to Lil Jon to decide who wins.
I’ll admit, I’ve been so busy lately that I didn’t get a chance to listen to Week 11’s remixes… so I left the final decision up to DJ BlacqueStarr and Thomas this week. The guys’ decision was unanimous and I took a quick listen to give my final approval. Yes, the remix is hot! See who the judges picked after the cut…
Here are all 39 entries submitted for Week 12. This week, Thomas is on vacation, so it’ll just be DJ BlacqueStarr and myself judging this week. A winner has been determined for Week 11, however the writeup is not ready yet. I’ll probably have it posted some time tomorrow. Oh, and Masterm!nd wrote one hell of a comment in the last post, so I’m gonna move it over here so people can comment on it.
On Thursday, July 23rd at the Opera House in Toronto, get ready to check out some of Boot Camp Clik’s finest and the latest additions, Marco Polo and Torae. It’s a special show because BM and SnW will be performing their critically acclaimed Tribute to the Classics show where they only perform their classic…CLASSIC (and two of my personal top 10 favourites) debuts Enta Da Stage and Dah Shinin’ from front-to-back. Should be exciting. KevinNottingham.com and REMG are giving you a chance to win to tickets to the event and experience the classic gritty hip hop sound from the creators themselves.
Here we are… the last week of our Blueprint 2009 Remix Contest. It’s been a great ride, that’s for sure! For our last week and your last chance to win a spot on our Blueprint 2009 remixtape, we are remixing the remix to “Girls, Girls, Girls.” Kanye did an amazing job remixing the Just Blaze original with his Persuaders sample (“Trying Girls Out”). Let’s see if you can flip it better!
Remix is due next Sunday (July 26th) by 3pm Eastern Time. Good luck!
