Props to our man E.J. for blessing us with this set.  Jurassic 5 released their self-titled album in 1998.  The LP was produced entirely by Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark.  The set contains 14 original samples that have not been featured in previous sets.  So hit the cut for the album info and link…

It really has been A Long Hot Summer, so what better way to celebrate  than to drop the samples to Masta Ace’s 2004 album!

This set comes courtesy of my man E.J., who dropped off a handful of samples a while back. If you’re reading this E.J., we’re getting all those sets up eventually. We just gotta make sure we cross-reference and get everything right.

This particular set is probably not quite complete, but we grabbed everything that we knew. In addition, we’ve included two versions of “Stares and Whispers” as the sample for “H.O.O.D.” The Internets list the sample as the Renee Geyer version, however after listening, we believe the actual sample may be the Freda Payne version. Tell us what you think and grab the whole set after the cut…

213 consist of Long Beach, California natives Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dog.  The collective dropped their debut album The Hard Way in 2004 to commercial success earning Gold status four months after its release.

Production is  handled by a host of beat makers that include Kanye West, DJ Pooh, B Sharp, Nottz and others.

Props to EJ for giving us this dope set.  We made some additions to his set, but this is all him. We have a bunch more sample sets coming from EJ soon. And thanks to Ben the Intern for hookin up the cover!

Kam dropped his highly acclaim debut album in 1993 with the help from various West Coast producers (Rashad, Mr. Woody, T-Bone, etc).  The disc was executive produced by his cousin Ice Cube and DJ Pooh.  Early 90’s West Coast set so you know what you’re getting sample wise.  Hit the cut for the tracklist and link.

Props to Onez for the set.

Props goes out to SoulControllah for sending this set our way.  Ed O.G. and Pete Rock collaborated on this 2004 release that produced bangers such as “Boston,” “Voices,” and “Wishing.”  Pete Rock produced seven of the joints with help from Diamond D, DJ Revolution, and DJ Supreme One.

SoulControllah included two bonus samples: one from Ed O.G. and Pete Rock’s 12-inch single “Shed a Tear” B/W “Jus Listen” and “Situations” from Ed’s The Truth Hurts album.

Hit the cut for tracklist and link…

Naughty by Nature’s Poverty’s Paradise isn’t the groups best work, but did receive a Grammy in 1996 for Best Rap Album.  “Feel Me Flow” and “Craziest” were the billboard charting singles.

I don’t remember too much about this album other than “Feel Me  Flow.”  I was still riding out to Ready to Die, Project: Funk Da World, The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World,  and The Main Ingredient.  Anyhoo….info and link after the jump.

Props to Onez

Props to SoulControllah again for this and the other AZ and M.O.P. sets he sent to us.  AZ’s third album produced some bangers such as “Problems,” “What Ya’ll Niggas Want,” and “Quiet Money Tbs.”  Hailed by critics as “too commercial,” but it was still AZ.  Hit the jump for info and link…

Props to Onez for compiling this set.  At Your Own Risk was released September 24, 1990 and reached Gold status although the album only charted one single; Ruff Rhyme (Back Again).  I’m not too familiar with this one, but I’m sure some of our loyal left coast followers will dig this.  Didn’t King Tee have an album produced solely by Dr. Dre while on Death Row?  Info and link after the cut…

EPMD’s third group album (first on Def Jam) produced bangers such as “Gold Digger,” “Rampage,” and “Hardcore,” which introduced us to Reggie Noble.  The album was produced by Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith with DJ Scratch providing one track.  Props to Onez for this one.  Hit the cut…

Charles Hamilton’s debut album is hitting retail sometime in August, but he is releasing it for online for FREE on June 16?  Apparently, the physical album will be released in a different format than the digital one [read interview].

I think the dude is talented.  I thought The Pink Lavalamp [sample set] was good music, but he stays with some negative press.  If its not beef with Soulja Boy [here], its problems with Rhymefest [here, here & here], or the alleged stolen track [here & here], and the mess with naming J Dilla as his executive producer, and the backlash [here].

Anyhoo, not only is he releasing the album for FREE, but he also revealed the sample sources.  The opportunist that we are….we quickly tracked those samples down!  Hit the cut for the samples and sound off on what you think about this fu*@ery as they say on the internet…

This my favorite M.O.P. album with First Family 4 Life a close second.  This album has those aggressive lyrics and probably the best production in their catalog.  DJ Premier, Nottz, DR Period, Lazy E Laze, Fizzy Womack, Chris Coker, and Curt Cazal handle the boards on this joint.

This album was fueled by the mega hit “Ante Up” and its remix that had radio and T.V. on smash in 2000.  As we wait for another M.O.P. studio album, hit the break for the samples that were found.  The vocal samples weren’t included in the set….if  you have information on those…hit us up.

Props again to Soulcontrollah blessing us with this set.  Hit the jump for info and link…

I think this is the last AZ album we have from SoulControllah. Props go out to him for hooking up the whole AZ sample discography. The Final Call was originally supposed to be released in 2004 before A.W.O.L., but was shelved after it got leaked on the Net a couple months before the release date. It officially saw the light of day last year via Koch Records. Check the samples after the cut…

Another sample set, courtesy of SoulControllah. We’re just going through AZ’s discography here… A.W.O.L. is actually one of my fav AZ of AZ’s albums.  The production is just straight dope and the track “New York” with Ghost and Rae is the shit. Check the samples after the cut…

Props to Soulcontrollah again for these AZ sets.  AZ’s 4th studio album was kinda of a comeback of sorts after this 3rd album 9 Lives wasn’t received well commercially or critically.  This album had some bangers such as “Fan Mail,” “Once Again,” “I’m Back,” and the Grammy nominated “The Essence” featuring Nasir Jones.

Production throughout the album was handled mostly by D/R Period, Buckwild, Chop D.I.E.S.E.L., Miller Time, and a few others.  Hit the cut for the info and link…
