Yeah, I know some of you are saying, “is this a joke?” I know, no competition, right? Well, let’s just see about that. Who would have ever thought to have these two emcees battle each other, but since they both released new albums this week, I figured why not… Let’s have some fun with this!

This week it’s the Juice Crew members going head to head. When I was growing up the talk was who had the better verse on “The Symphony” Big Daddy Kane or Kool G Rap? Today we are going to decide who had the better verse on that song and highlight other gems throughout their careers.

This past Tuesday, Canibus and Keith Murray released their collaborative EP The Undergods. So I thought it was a good idea to put them up against one another for our Freestyle Friday!

Brother Ali just dropped his latest album, Us, so I was thinking of who I should put him up against for this week’s Freestyle Friday. I thought Q-Tip was an interesting choice!

Since the new KRS-One/Buckshot album just dropped this past Tuesday, we’re gonna put these two emcees up head to head for today’s Freestyle Friday. Both emcees have been in the game a loooooong time, so this should make for an interesting thread.

For this week’s Frestyle Friday, it’s only right that we put up two heavyweights who are dropping albums next week… and two who most of us have been listening to all week. This is not an Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 vs. Blueprint 3… this is about 2 emcees, new lyrics and old.

Aight, let’s try this Freestyle Friday again! Last week we kicked things off by putting Joe Budden and Method Man up against each other… obvious, I know. This week, I want you all to try your hand at arguably two of the prolific emcees in the game, The Roots’ Black Thought and the Mighty Mos Def!

This is a brand new segment we’re gonna try out here on KevinNottingham.com… Freestyle Friday. Somebody (I forget who they are) came to me months ago with this idea and it took me a while to warm up to it and put it into motion. The idea came back into my head when I got an email from an emcee who said we were too producer-oriented on the site. They wanted a contest for the emcees. We’ll this isn’t exactly a contest, but more of a game. And it’s not just for emcees, but for all hip hop heads.
Here’s how it’ll work: Each Friday we’ll put two emcees up against each other. This week, we have chosen Joe Budden and Method Man (for obvious reasons). You all will get to battle each other using lyrics from either Joe Budden or Method Man. Pay attention to the comments as the idea is to go back and forth (Joe, Meth, Joe, Meth…etc). We’re gonna start this one off for you with a verse from Method Man. So the first comment in this post should be an attack verse from Joe Budden, then someone else will respond with a verse by Meth. I hope this makes sense… lol. The idea is to have verses go back and forth as if the two emcees were battling, but the verse doesn’t have to be one that was originally meant for the other.
Hit the jump to get in on the battle… this is an idea in progress. I’m thinking at the end of the day, we’ll announce a winner of some sort for whoever came with the hardest, dopest lyric. If anyone has any questions or suggestions about this new feature, please leave it in the C-Box and NOT in this post.
