French producer Dela drops his new project The Robert Glasper Beat ape, an instrumental project inspired by (obviously) Robert Glasper. You may know Dela from his critically acclaimed Changes Of Atmosphere album which featured artists such as Kam Moye/Supastition, Talib Kweli, J-Live, Blu and Large Professor. Fresh off his recent collaborations with D. Julien (Live.Love.Learn Mixtape) and XO (“She Spose To” – One.One.Ten), DMV producer Soulful! has returned with his new beat tape, The Mellow Life. The album features a blend of melodic mixture of instrumentals and guest features from IhsAn Bilal, Cayan, Shaka and K-Beta.

The Koalition put together this tape beat tape of DJ Khalil’s tracks from the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars game last October. I’m surprised someone hasn’t jacked these for a mixtape/EP or something. Eleven tracks of heat.

The Beatnikz described as Sweden’s finest started working together in 2004. The Beatnikz is a producing duo from NKPG represented by Lil Jay and Frank Blank, they had been making beats separately for almost a decade before they joined forces. They’ve produced the entire Everliven Sound album featuring artists like Pace won, Wordsworth, Mary Lou and Ty-chee as well as having other projects under construction. Twenty-One year old producer Bonita Basics just finished up his instrumental EP, Family Matters. The EP has been six months in the making with the young beatsmith drawing inspiration from some recent family events. The EP is twelve tracks of head knockers with standout cuts such as “The Thc Track,” “State of Mind,” and “Foolish.”

“These 5 tracks are all original Hip Hop compositions influenced by European Jazz and Electronic composers of the late 60’s, early 70’s and early 90’s. Because I’m more known for my sound design and sampling skills, I wanted to demonstrate a bit of my compositional range as a multi-instrumentalist who plays the drums, bass, guitar and keyboards. This EP is pretty much a precursor of what is yet to come from me musically as a fully self-contained Composer/Producer.”

I’ve been a fan of Cold Legistics since I heard their first instrumental project, Deeper Than You Think. They recently dropped Northern Star, which is just as dope.
