Here’s the day we’ve all been waiting for… the official release day of the long awaited Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II and Blueprint 3. Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 was originally supposed to be released this Friday, September 11, but got push up to today.  Since both albums leaked last week, there have been varying opinions on Blueprint 3; however, the praise for Raekwon’s new album has been pretty consistent. As far as I know, these are the only two releases in stores today. Hit the jump to let us know what you’re coppin…

Released a little over a month ago, Order Up! Volume 3: Chicken and Waffles has proved to be a favorite among the fans. Thank you to those who have supported the album thus far. With this album, Nobody Famous has shown that he can tackle virtually every genre of urban music, as his production style varies from one track to the next. Today we are releasing (free to the public), the third promotional single from the album, “Mary” featuring L.A. emcee Wax. This is the second track Nobody Famous and Wax have paired up for; the first being last year’s “Famous’ Laboratory.”

If you remember back in February of this year, an early version of “Mary” was leaked during our promotional campaign for Order Up! Volume 3. That version used a sample-based instrumental, produced by Nobody Famous. The subject of Wax’s lyrics were so powerful and the delivery was so emotional, that Nobody Famous felt compelled to go back to the studio and recompose the beat from scratch. The result is this sample-free epic composition that made it onto Order Up! Vol 3.

“Mary” is an amazing song with an incredible story and a beat that builds and builds with every bar. Grab the Digi 12″ after the cut and if you still have not checked out Order Up! Volume 3, download your copy now!

Ladies and Gentlemen, September 1st is here and we are officially in the 4th quarter for music releases! Lots of dope music coming out today. The two joints you see above are what I definitely will be coppin. As we kick off 11 Days of Jay today, the Roc is in the building with a brand new release from Beanie Sigel.  With features from Freeway, Young Chris, and Omilio Sparks, you can’t go wrong with this purchase. Also shone above is the new album from Mr. J Medeiros. 2007’s Of Gods and Girls, is one of my all time favorites, so I know the new album cannot disappoint.

Lots more goodies are out today. Hit the jump for the full list and let us know what you’re coppin…

big_mike_cover

Louisiana legend Big Mike has returned with his new album Ridah Music Vol. 1 (which you can purchase here or search Soundclick.com for THEREALBIGMIKE). Here is one of my favorite tracks from the new album entitled “Heaven’s Ridah.” If you aren’t familiar with Mike, you’ve been sleeping! Mike debuted with Mr. 3-2 as part of The Convicts and went on to join the legendary Geto Boys for their album Till Death Do Us Apart. Mike also crafted the classic solo albums Somethin Serious & Still Serious while on Rap-A-Lot. When you purchase the album, you also get his mixtape The Reintroduction. These 2 projects boast guest appearances from Devin The Dude, Pimp C, Young Bleed, Six 2, Chamillionaire, B.G. & Rick Ross. Cop the the album, you won’t be disappointed.

Here’s a tribute to the R&B Angel Aaliyah and it’s called AALIYAH REVISTED, this is a must for any Aaliyah fan.. props to soulcutlture.co.uk for this project and check it out after the cut…

Just Released Today [08/25]

newmusic8-25

The music industry is giving us a break today to get us ready to spend hundreds of dollar on new releases next month. There are a few notable releases today, but nothing that I’m particularly excited about. I keep hearing about this Blue Scholars release (shown above). I might check that. Motown is also releasing their Michael Jackson remix project with key producers in the industry, such as The Neptunes, Stargate, Polow Da Don, and Dallas Austin. Shameless plug… look out for our MJ Tribute tape to drop this Saturday!

Also out today is Queen Latifah’s new album. Apparently, it’s half rap and half whatever else. I was never a fan of her’s even 20 years ago. LaToya Luckett’s sophomore album may be worth a check… I dug her debut. Anyway, hit the jump to see everything that’s in stores today and let us know what you’re coppin!

Just Released Today [08/18]

Sort of a lack luster day for new music releases, though I’ll probably check out the two albums shown above. Probably the best release today is the free mixtape fro Quite Nyce, which you can download here. Fokis & Punchlyne’s free EP is suppose to drop today too, but I haven’t seen anything on it yet. Keeping up with these releases is tough, but we just updated our Release Date Calendar with all the greatness that’s set to drop in September. All I can say now is save your money! Hit the jump to see what else is in stores today…

Just Released Today [08/11]

Today I’m officially declaring Slaughterhouse day! One of my most anticipated albums finally comes out today and it is all that it’s cracked up to be. Hopefully one of our reviewers will do this album justice. This is definitely one you’ll want to cop today. A big surprise is the digital release of Slaughterhouse member Joe Budden’s new album. I just caught word of it yesterday. I knew it was coming, but just didn’t know when. What happened to hyping up a release and at least letting listeners know it’s coming out. At any rate, we’ll have some really dope Slaughterhouse related material throughout the day here on the site. Hit the jump to see what else is in stores. Seems light today… did I miss anything?

electric-record-preview

The official second single from Nobody Famous‘ new album Order Up! Vol 3: Chicken and Waffles gets the Digital 12″ treatment. As the digital format takes over today’s market, there is still a want for the 12″ vinyl singles that we used to buy. So today we offer you the single, “Electric” featuring Dasha and Jarell Perry in the same format that you would have purchased years ago in the record store, but in digital format. This free download will give you the album version, radio edit, instrumental, acapella, plus a previously unreleased bonus B-Side. Hit the jump for the 12″ cover art and the free download link courtesy of Nobody Famous and HiPNOTT Records.

Look out for the official video to “Electric” coming soon!
