Tensei: Plug Research Podcast #14

I want to introduce you to a production duo that’s preparing to blaze trails on the global music scene with their unique fusion of Hip Hop, Jazz, and cinematic soundscapes. Chicago duo Tensei, comprised of Simple X and Midas Wells, met at Southern Illinois University in the late 90’s and built a natural rapport and friendship. After losing touch over the years, they reconnected and began working as the production duo Tensei, which means ‘heaven star’ in Japanese.

This past year, the duo were finalists in the Plug Research remix contest for Bilal’s single “Robots,” which led to them signing a deal with the label. Currently, they are hard at work in the lab putting the finishing touches on their debut as well as producing for various artists including label mate Szjerdene.

Check out the latest in the Plug Research monthly plugcast series featuring the duo. Tensei’s plugcast features music from 2009-2011 and is a collection of unreleased songs, remixes, and sonic experimentation consisting of live instrumentation and beats.
