The Inbox

Yeah, I’ve been slacking hard with our weekly Inbox posts… it’s actually been two months since I did one of these. Since I set up my SoundCloud account a few months back, I’ve rarely logged into it. Turns out there have been over 200 tracks submitted since then. To be brutally honest, I very rarely listen to music that people send me. I guess it’s sorta like how Kanye and Common say they don’t listen to hip hop in their home. I do listen to hip hop, but I listen to the same thing you’re listening to. I still gotta give it up to those who send me their music and value my opinion enough to think that it makes a difference. This post here is sort of my way to payback those who send in their stuff…

Let’s see what came into our inbox via SoundCloud this week! Looks like the inbox carries over from week to week, so if you’ve submitted something in the past via SoundCloud, you’ll have a chance to get your music heard each week there after. So if you want to be feature in our Inbox every Saturday, create an account over at SoundCloud.com and send us your tracks!

So this new SoundCloud set up is working out pretty nice! People are now able to send their tracks and get instantly featured on the site in our weekly Inbox post. SoundCloud makes it super easy for me to post these tracks and for you to hear them in the embedded player. Hit the jump to hear what landed in my inbox this week and let us know if there’s anything in there you are feeling!

Today, KevinNottingham.com is proud to announce the return of The Inbox! After a 2 month hiatus, we’ve finally figured out a smarter way to receive and share music from you, thanks to the good people at SoundCloud.com. The Inbox isn’t exactly how it used to be. We won’t be posting every single thing that gets sent to use like we did previously. That just took too much time. From now on The Inbox will be dedicated to those tracks dropped in our SoundCloud box over the course of the week. The great thing about SoundCloud is that you can listen to the music right here before you even download. If you’d like to submit your music, use the drop box in the upper right hand corner of the site. Hit the jump to hear the music submitted this past week.

Edit: Ok, after messing with this post for about an hour, I realized that I can’t share the music you send me if you make it private only to me. Out of the 24 tracks sent to me this week, only 2 people made their tracks public. So instead to trashing this post, I’ll give shine to those two people. I think I may have remedied future problems by creating an Inbox Group and the dropbox in the sidebar now points to that group. So if you sent in music this past week, feel free to resubmit and we’ll get you up next week.

Revival of The Inbox?

by Kevin on August 10, 2009 · 3 comments

The Inbox was a very popular series here on the site and I’ve been search for ways to bring it back. It’s been two months since our last inbox post, as time is just not something that I’m fortunate to have. I’m trying out a new service, courtesy of SoundCloud.com which will allow me to receive your music and easily display it on the site through a handy, dandy widget. Right now, the only downside I see to this service is that it only accepts single tracks and not fully zipped projects. So for your mixtapes and album, you can continue to send those the old way. But I’d like you all to give this new dropbox a try. I’ve added it to the sidebar to the right for your convenience. All I ask is that you name your tracks properly with your name and name of the song and please do not flood the drop box with a shit-ton of tracks. If this is successful, at the end of each week I will showcase those tracks that were sent throughout the week. We may even start using this service for our upcoming remix contests, so give it a try!

Send me your track

Was busy yesterday, so I didn’t get our weekly Inbox post up. But here it is. The inbox should be a little lighter this week as I had Thomas helping me out posting stuff through the week. Someone mentioned in the CBox that we post too much. Hmmm, I guess you can’t please everyone. Our motto has always been quality over quantity (coined by Thomas himself). So you can rest assured that if it’s posted, it has the KN stamp of approval. This week we were hit up with quite a few remixes and videos. Hit the jump for what we didn’t get around to posting this past week…

…. and they keep on comin! haha This feature is turning into a Saturday ritual for me. I wonder if there will ever be a day when I stop receiving email? Nah, I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon. But until it does, I’m gonna keep sharing what I get. Check out this week’s inbox after the cut…

Yo, so this week has been absolutely crazy! It’s funny how at the beginning of the week you think you’re gonna stay ahead of the game and by the end of the week, you’re further behind than you were last week. That’s what I love about these inbox posts. It gives me a chance to clear my inbox (and my head) before the next week starts. I got a ton of stuff that I just didn’t get around to posting this week and you all will be getting everything right here. I know there are a bunch of interviews/features that I haven’t gotten up and I apologize to the artists that have been patient with me. But let me do this post up quick so I can go take a nap before I head out for the night. Yeah, I take naps bitches! Damn, I still have remixes to listen too… never ending. Oh, and this Statik Selektah mixtape is the shit!

From all the posts I put up today, I bet you thought I wasn’t gonna do an Inbox post. Trust me, I got at least 50 more emails to go through easily. And you can check em all after the cut…

You would think the more I post during the week, the lighter my inbox would get. That just doesn’t seem to be the case. Another blogger recently asked me, “how do you get through all the emails people send you?” Then he noticed this Inbox series and was like, “ah, ingenious!”  So don’t be surprised if you see other blogs picking up on the method. There are simply too many artists out there trying to get heard. Hit the jump to see what landed in my inbox this week…

Ah, this week’s Inbox is so much lighter than last week! We still got some dope stuff to drop, but last week was just too much. We’ve also made it easier for you all to check out our previous weeks of inboxes by adding a graphic to the right sidebar. So if you dig this series and are new, you may want to check out the others. Below that image is a link for you to submit your music to us as well. So if you’d like to be featured in the Inbox, hit us up!

I think this week has been the hardest week for me in terms of keeping up with the site. Coming off of vacation was a major bitch and although Thomas helped by hooking up the Inbox last week, he doesn’t get everything that gets submitted to the site. My inbox is so overwhelmed at this point that I am literally unloading it all in this post right here. It’ll feel good to start the week off fresh. So hit the jump to see what we got!

Kev is still relaxing so I’ll throw up The Inbox submissions.  I’ll apologize in advance if I missed anything.  I get SOME of the submissions, but not ALL.

When submitting music please include your name, title (of the song, album, EP, mixtape, video), and a link from a file sharing site to be posted.  Some of the submissions are not including this information.  Please comment on what’s hot and what’s not.  Info after the cut…
