At times I’ll find myself jamming to some raw Hip Hop from France, Spain or of course the States. But then just a few hours later on my midday lunch break, I am unwinding to some soul. So, I present to you a really random mix of what I’ve been bumping lately on my iPod, which is on shuffle at the moment and explains the A.D.D. nature of my playlist. Whether en route to work, at work, in my writing or learning French, one of these songs is in rotation. Speaking of French, which one of you peeped Soprano’s Cypher freestyle at this year’s BET 2011 Hip Hop Awards? Fire. If you haven’t checked out some of these cyphers yet, I suggest you do so. But only after listening to this smorgasbord of worldly Hip Hop consisting of both old school and new school, gutter rhymes,and melancholic soul.

For this edition of our What’s On The iPod, we’re paying respect to Heavy D, who recently passed away. For the youngin’s who aren’t familiar, here’s your chance to be schooled. For the old heads like me, let’s reminisce.

I hadn’t planned on doing these more than once a month, but there was just too many great songs that dropped this past week. As I was compiling a list of new stuff to throw on my iPod for the week, it just happened to turn into a new compilation. And believe it or not, this joint is just as good as the one we dropped last week!

All artists on these compilations have been featured here on the site and if you dig a track or artist, you can usually find more of their stuff by doing a search here on KN.com. As for these compilations, I don’t just take a bunch of tracks and throw them together. Each track has been leveled so that one track is not louder than the other and all unnecessary space has been removed between each track. Then the tracks are ordered in a way that I feel makes the compilation flow the best. And if you want to burn it on a CD, you can since each mix is just under 80 minutes and fits perfectly on a CD. If you like the type of music we post here on KN.com, then these compilations are a must!
