With Swizz Beatz’s debut solo album, One Man Band Man, being release later this month, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t dedicate a Producer’s Spotlight to him.
Swizzy has been blowing up all over the radio and clubs lately with his hits for Eve, T.I., Beyonce, and Busta Rhymes. This year he has decided to go into the spotlight himself with his hits “It’s Me Snitches” and “Money In The Bank”, following other producers-turned-artists such as Timbaland, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams. But Swizz Beatz isn’t a new kid on the block; he’s been in the game for quite some time.
Swizz Beatz was born Kasseem Dean in the Bronx area of New York City. He relocated to Atlanta as a teenager, where he started to DJ parties. When his relatives became involved with the Ruff Ryders label, he began to produce tracks at the tender age of 16. Forgoing the practice of using samples, he used real instruments whenever possible and tried to accentuate the performance aspect of his music. Swizz Beatz helped launch the careers of DMX and Eve with his club bangin’ beats, while also producing tracks for Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Cassidy, and Styles P; as well as his wife, R&B singer, Mashonda.
This is the year for Swizz Beats and it’s long overdue!
