Lupe Fiasco New Album Pushed Back To November

Lupe FiascoThe following is reposted from nobodysmiling.com:

Bad news for Lupe Fiasco fans – the Chicago rapper confirmed that his sophomore album, “The Cool,” has been pushed back to November.

And the news gets worse: Lupe is swearing off of mixtapes and plans on releasing only two more LPs before bowing out of the music industry.

“I’m just wearing down,” Lupe told Billboard. “I’m never doing mixtapes again, not even Internet ones. My whole energy for making hip-hop music is slowing down.”

“I’ve been doing it for seven years. I still don’t think I’m famous. I’ll do what I have to do to promote my next album, but I’m not enthused about doing seven albums. I’ll do my three, and then I am going to keep moving to the next phase of life and maybe grow trees.”

“The Cool,” a follow-up to his 2006 debut “Food & Liquor,” was originally slated for release on Oct. 30; now it’s scheduled to hit stores on Nov. 20.

Yet with all this talk of postponements and retiring, Lupe mentioned that a joint album with hip-hop superstars Kanye West and Pharrell Williams may be in the works.

According to Lupe, the three artists have only recorded one track (“Us Placers”) under the group name, CRS (Child Rebel Soldiers), but more material may be on the way.

“Now [our labels are] working it out. Whoever is going to pay is going to pay a whole hell of a lot. Everybody is excited, [but] ‘Us Placers’ is the only record we have.”
