Man, it’s been a crazy week! We should find out soon who the winner in the Kanye vs. 50 Cent battle is. Early numbers put Kanye West on top. Honestly, I think Kanye has the better album. I was planning on reviewing Curtis, but I actually couldn’t get through a complete listen! He’s got a few good tracks on there, but they’re mostly the ones that have already been released to radio. So if you haven’t made up your mind as to which CD to pick up, go ahead and cop Graduation. Believe me, you won’t be dissapointed.
On to this week’s releases… we finally get the new album from Twista. I’m looking forward to hearing that one. Chamillionaire is dropping his sophomore release today. We also get a collection of older tunes from Rick Ross. This should hold us over until his new album drops in November. Last, by not least, Babyface is releasing a collection of cover song on his latest CD, Playlist. Read on for more information on these new releases.
Twista: Adrenaline Rush 2007
Adrenaline Rush 2007 is the seventh studio album by Twista. This album marks the 10 year anniversary since Twista released his critically acclaimed album Adrenaline Rush, thus adding the 2007 to the title. The first official single from the album is “Give It Up”, featuring Pharrell. The second single is scheduled to be “Creep Fast” featuring T-Pain.
The album features other guest, such as Cee-Lo, Jazze Pha, Lil’ Wayne, R. Kelly, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, E-40, Pitbull, and Kanye West. With a guest list that that, this album should be great! We got the regular production from Toxic, along with songs by Jazze Pha, R. Kelly, Pharrell, and Kanye West.

Chamillionaire: Ultimate Victory
Ultimate Victory is Chamillionaire’s sophomore album release. The first single was release over the summer, “Hip Hop Police” featuring Slick Rick. The next single is scheduled to be released today, “The Bill Collecta” featuring Krayzie Bone. Chamillionaire is planning to release videos for each of his singles in an order that would make each video, when put together, like a movie.
Chamillionaire’s plan for this album is to make it relatively clean with no mention whatsoever of the ‘N-Word‘. I’m not sure if he was successful with that since I have not heard the album yet. If so, this would be a huge step in hip hop. Additional guest on the album include K-Ci, Bun B, Lil’ Wayne (damn he’s on everything lately!), Pimp C, and Devin The Dude. The album is produced heavily by Kane Beatz, with additional production by Jonathan Rotem, Play-N-Skillz, The Runners, and Happy Perez.

Rick Ross: Rise To Power
Rise To Power is an album of material from Rick Ross’ earlier recordings and will be released on the label which discovered Rick Ross in 2000, Suave House. Def Jam originally tried putting a halt to the album, but with the help from Slip N Slide executives, Suave House was able to negotiate with Def Jam in order to release this album.
This album is good news for fans of Rick Ross. The more released music, the better, right? Rick Ross is scheduled to release his follow up to last year’s Port of Miami this November, entitled Trilla. Until then, enjoy this rare gem from Suave House, featuring guests from Devin The Dude, Scarface, Clipse, and R&B group Next.

Babyface: Playlist
Playlist is Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds’ eleventh album release. The CD consists mostly of cover songs including Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” Dan Fogelberg’s “Longer,” Dave Loggin’s “Please Come To Boston”, Bread’s “Diary”, Jim Croce’s “Time In A Bottle,” Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” and James Taylor’s “Fire & Rain” and “Shower The People”.
Babyface only recorded two new songs for this album. The new songs are titled “Not Going Nowhere” and “The Soldier Song”. I’m not too sure this album is a good move for Babyface. Releasing a CD of cover songs is one thing, but when you add one or two original songs in there it makes it seem like you could only come up with two new songs and then just decided to fill the rest with covers. I don’t know, maybe I’m being too harsh. Babyface was a great songwriter back in the day. Today’s R&B could use some Babyface.
Tracklist:
- Shower The People
- Fire & Rain
- Not Going Nowhere
- Time In A Bottle
- Wonderful Tonight
- Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door
- Longer
- The Soldier Song
- Please Come To Boston
- Diary
