I am not necessarily a Black Eyed Peas fan, nor am I much more a fan of Fergie’s solo work; however, there’s no denying that the man behind their songs, will.i.am, is talented. I didn’t really take notice to will.i.am as a producer until last summer when I heard Busta Rhymes‘ “I Love My Chick”. I thought, “man that beat is sick!”. We’ll lately will.i.am has been supplying beats for people other than his Black Eyed Peas band mates. In the past year, he’s produced songs for Common, Talib Kweli, Justin Timberlake, and Nas; to name a few.
will.i.am is rumored to be working on new music for Lil Wayne and Nicole Scherzinger, Michael Jackson’s comeback album, and a new effort with the Black Eyed Peas.
This Tuesday, will.i.am will be releasing his third solo album, Songs About Girls. If you’re not familiar with will.i.am’s work, the following playlist should help introduce you to him. Like I said, I’m not much of a Black Eyed Peas fan, so I chose to focus on his work with other artists; with a few exceptions, of course.
