So I hear the new Scarface song, “Girl You Know”, recently and I immediately recognize the beat. I knew that Lenny Williams sample as Kanye made it famous in Twista’s “Overnight Celebrity”. So I thought this was a good match up for “Who Flipped It Better?”. Upon further research I found that Kanye used the same sample for Jin that same year as the Twista joint. There were a few others I found too that used it, but the best out of that batch was Mobb Deep’s “Nothing Like Home”.
Honestly, no one beats what Kanye did with the sample in “Overnight Celebrity”, but I like how Nottz flipped it in Scarface’s song. My vote is for Kanye & Twista. What do you think?

DSuper: yeah, I agree with you to a point. No doubt Nottz did his thing. I think cuz we’ve heard “Overnight Celebrity” so much that it seems played out, whereas Nottz is bringing something fresh with the sample. Thanks for reading!

That new Face joint is bananas and thats the best flip of that sample that ive heard so far
I think people are finding the Scarface version refreshing in comparison because of how old the Kanye edition is and how much it’s been played…there’s no doubt though, Overnight Celebrity had the bigger impact when it hit, the sample was flipped so much more soulfully…though I’m not taking anything away from the Nottz production…winner: ‘Ye & Twista

first of all I didnt like the overnight celebrity because the piano from the beat wasnt from the original sample and kanye cant play instruments soo someone played the piano in for him and if there is 1 thing I hate is it did producers dont topp off there beats all by there selfs.

all though most of his beats are straight loops from the orginal sample soo the creativity in chopping isnt always really there
