Producer’s Spotlight: Khrysis

KhrysisIn case you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge Justus League fan. With that being said, it should come to no surprise that I would eventually do a Producer’s Spotlight on the man that helped create that North Carolina Justus League sound — Khrysis.

Khrysis, whose real name is Christopher Tyson, brings just as much to the table as 9th Wonder when it comes to making beats for the camp. You may be most familiar with his work as part of The Away Team with MC Sean Boog, but Khrysis has done beats for virtually all members of the Justus League to include Little Brother, Median, Cesar Comanche, and Edgar Allen Floe.

So if you’re not familiar with Khrysis, here’s an introduction to his work. Study up now; I guarantee you’ll be hearing more from Khrysis in the future!

Damn, I don’t know what’s up. Three of the tracks I uploaded keep coming out super sped up. I don’t have time to mess with it now so I just took them off the player and removed the links. Sorry.

I’m not actually up on Bishop Lamont. He’s a new cat from the west coast right? I did a quick look around and wasn’t able to find any sample info on him. Let me see if I can listen to the song and see if I know it. I’ll hit you back later this week.

the sample which Focus used in ‘Feel on me’ is taken from the song “Bre Petrunko” by Filip Koutev. Its performed by some of the bulgarian woman’s choirs, but i am not sure which one exactly as they sound alike. 8-)
    The choir could be:
    -Koutev Bulgarian National Ensemble
    -Great voices of Bulgaria
    or some other
here is the original sample (Bre Petrunko):

in bishop lamont’s feel on it focus samples a bulgarian traditional folk vocal choir.. i’m not sure i’ve seen that mentioned anywhere

  12. Posted April 14, 2008 at 7:11 pm | Permalink

Its not mentioned anywhere but here, cuz i dig it myself :P

  13. Posted April 15, 2008 at 3:35 am | Permalink

i mean on focus’s or bishop’s site, or on their label site, does anyone know if the usage rights are listed anywhere? cause i don’t believe using someone else’s music without reviewing usage rights with them as a sample to your own music that you will sell is legal..right?

  14. Posted April 15, 2008 at 5:25 am | Permalink

well, clearing and paying for right is one thing, and acknowledgment another…

  15. Posted June 21, 2008 at 1:27 pm | Permalink

the right should be belonging to the performers and producers or at least comanies which would inform them you can’t take someone’s voice and make money out of it without their knowledge
