American Gangster Remixes: Rounds 39 & 40

Big Mike: International Gangster Mick Boogie: Brooklyn Soul

Who knew we would be up to 40 remix albums by Christmas? I say by Christmas, cuz these two have actually been out for at least a few days. Two heavyweight DJs have dropped their own American Gangster remix albums; Big Mike dropped his International Gangster last week and Mick Boogie dropped his Brooklyn Soul on Christmas Eve.

I’m still on vacation and I appreciate you guys keeping me up to date with the remixes. I don’t have time to go into depth on these two albums, but you should definitely check em out for yourselves. After the new year, we’re gonna take all the remixes that came our way and break down the best of the best and compile our own American Gangster.

Edit: Apparently this Mick Boogie one is the same as What’s Going On American Gangster? produced by Shuko & The Gunna. Thanks to Carsten for giving me a heads up. I just went to Mick Boogie’s site and this is how he describes the album:

Just in time for Christmas. Another exciting FREE creative project from The League Crew. This time I linked up with my producer friends Shuko and The Gunna (from Europe!) and hooked Jay-Z up with even more of that classic 70’s soul sound. Completely produced using Marvin Gaye samples and elements, this album takes a great album and makes it classic. Download “Brooklyn Soul” now and enjoy a soulful holiday!

So maybe Shuko & The Gunna were looking to get wider distribution through Mick Boogie?  Anyone know the story behind this?

Are you serious?!?! What’s up with that? I hope Mick Boogie didn’t sell them out like that. Maybe they decided to repackage it and put Mick Boogie’s name behind it to get wider distribution?
