American Gangster Remixes: Rounds 61 - 64

Alright, I just have another handful of American Gangster remix albums to put up, then I hoping to switch gears for awhile and do something other than American Gangster. Don’t worry, if you still got remixes, I’ll put em up. I just have a feeling it’s gonna be slowing down in a bit. I still plan to release a Best of American Gangster Remixes compilation, but damn there are a lot of remixes to go through. That is gonna be a feat in itself!

Gangster No. 1

This first one comes from Sounds From The Compound out of Montreal, Canada. I tell ya, I had no idea there was so much hip hop talent coming out of Canada. Canadian artists are definitely underrated. The name of this album is Gangster No. 1.

I’m really feeling this one; it has a nice smooth sound to it. Production-wise reminds me of Soundtrakk (from Lupe Fiasco fame) or some old No ID. Definitely not one to be slept on. Check out these guys’ MySpace page, as well. They did a Blueprint remix album a couple of years ago which earned them a HOOD rating in Scratch magazine. They mixed Jay with Elvis 2 years before Cookin’ Soul thought of it!

American CyborgAll I got to say about this one here is… interesting. But not in a bad way; this cat definitely made some innovative beats. Check the concept… picture Jay-Z. Picture the popular 80’s video game Megaman. Picture some soulful production by Chrono Khalid. Then picture this album — American Cyborg. No joke; dude actually sampled from the Megaman video game! Before you turn your head, give it a listen… pretty damn creative. This one deserves a dope cover.Edit 1/5: Capeman put together a kick ass cover for this one and Chrono loves it! This one is approved!

Real Live GangsterThis one wasn’t sent to me, but I came across it over at Nofrillz’s blog. It is very worthy of a mention over here, if you haven’t already heard it. This is Real Live Gangster, remixed by K-Def.K-Def has been in the game for awhile, as far back as doing production work with Marley Marl for Lord of The Underground. He’s kept a pretty low profile, doing a few songs for Ghostface and one for Diddy recently, but K-Def is the real deal. This remix album is solid! Out of the 60+ remix albums that have been posted, this one is easily somewhere in the top 5. Just classic production style right here.

Make sure you get this one!

American GentlemanOk, I think this is the last one I have in my queue to post. Just got this one in from a group called Da Composerz. It’s called American Gentleman. The album is pretty tight, production-wise. I can definitely hear some Pete Rock & DJ Premier influence in the beats. Check out the beat on “Party Life”. I’m really feeling that one in particular.Keep doin’ ya thing! Ya’ll check this out…

I think that’s all the American Gangster remixes I’ve been sitting on this past week. If I missed anyone’s album, please let me know. My email and MySpace messages got crazy and it was hard to keep up, so I’m sorry if I forgot anyone.

American Gentleman is one of the better remixes…I like the samples they used…if they are samples haha. Either way, it’s in the top 5 of my favorites (American Beatmaker, American Angster, Canadian Gangster, American Gentelman & 9th Wonder’s remix (whenever it comes out, haha) I already know I’ma like that one…he killed The Black Album remix

Good looks, A.D. It’s nice to hear what peeps favs are. I have no clue which ones are my top 5; there are far too many. I’m in the process now of organizing all the albums on my hard drive so that I can start to compile the best of the best. All these cats that submitted remixes can remix like a mutha, but not a damn one of them can tag an mp3 worth shit! LOL

That cover is hot, Capeman…I love some Megaman…a bit of useless information, but it’s funny that I just started a beat two days b4 I saw American Cyborg on here, I sampled the 1st stage from Megaman 2 (Yes, I still play Nintendo, I’m 21 haha)

Yeah, I feel on that Kev…it’s hard to say really…but, I’m confident with my picks..I think Canadian Gangster was really overlooked…I play all of those in my car (with the exception of 9th’s..which hasn’t came YET) LMAO bout the tags…I know right…I’ve had to tag all mine…shit is bothersome an a mutha…they need Bill Gates on their side when they on these computers…they nice on the boards..but not a keyboard haha..

Thanks for makin’ it easier to find all these remixes. Good luck to everyone who entered the HHDX contest as well.

I’m just downloadin’ American Cyborg…but Chrono’s “Can’t Fuck Wit Me Jay-Z Remix” (Hola Hovito) That shit is raw…he need to do a Blueprint remix album..his other songs are hot as hell, real talk. Where’s the deal for this guy?

Ok, I revised my favorites (in no particular order):
    16 Bars Productions: Canadian Gangster
    Von Pea: American Angster
    MIDIMarc: American Beatmaker
    Da Composerz: American Gentleman
    Last but, not least…
    Chrono Khalid: American Cyborg
    (That is the rawest remix out…I’m dead serious;
The Megaman works perfectly. I listen to every track, even Hello Brooklyn, and I can’t stand Lil’ Wayne’s singing.)
