American Gangster Remixes: Rounds 72 & 73

Eye Am GangsterThey’ve been slowing down, but they won’t stop. For those of you that need your American Gangster fix, here’s two more remix albums to add to the pot. This first one here is hot, Hot, HOT!

It’s called Eye Am Gangster and comes from Eye Am Productions of the Southern California group The BREAX. I know I’ve said it before, but this will definitely be a new fan favorite. Once you get a listen of this remix album, I guarantee you will be visiting their web site to purchase their new album, entitled theBREAX. I know I’m heading over there now to cop it!

The Breax is composed of RUSLAN (vocals + production), BELEAF (DJ + vocals), MIC B (drums), and Name Brand (production).

This is top notch production right here people! Jay needs to holler at these cats for his next album, for real!

The other American Gangster remix album I have is called Nigerian Gangster.  No cover for this one.  It comes from Kid Konnect and was featured over at AllHipHop.com.  I wish I could say this one is as good as the last, but it just doesn’t work for me.  The production itself is not bad; it’s actually pretty good.  However I don’t feel these beats go well with Jay’s flow.  At times it feels as if the vocals are rushed, as if Jay were trying to keep up with the track. There are some nice beats on here though and I think Kid Konnect should definitely recycle these for another project.  They just don’t work on this one for me.

WHY???? the eye am beat for the title track is soooo dope….BUT ITS OFF BEAT!! this is the number one offence with some of these remix albums. why would you take the time to craft a great beat and then not even bother to sync up the vocals properly??? eye am productions - if you are reading this - fix that shit!! i need that last track proper.

Yo, I didn’t even catch that Scott! But you’re right though. The rest of the album is hot; why would they settle for mediocrity? But that seemed to be the biggest problem with some of these remixes that were released, that it was difficult to match up the vocals. That just shows that the ones that could match up the vocals are that much more special.

Peace to Scott… thanx for the love.. yeah that last track was a headache… I actually completly bit the drum sequence of the orginal track, having the acapellas on top of the entire song and sequencing our version of to how the orginal was… It helped a little, but still sounds slightly off beat… I think a lotta jay’s flow has to do with it, he has alotta swag in his style, if you were to listen to that song acapella to a click track it would sound off beat, but i think because he recorded it to just blaze bizzy beat it sounds super fresh..
