I know I’m a little late on these two mixes, but I just got a hold of both of them and thought they were worth sharing. Enjoy!
This first mix is a whole ‘nother take on the American Gangster remixes. Quincey Tones took the original samples that were used to make Jay-Z version, flipped em, and put Nas on the tracks. It’s called God’s Gangster.
It’s a nice effort, given the fact that I’m not the biggest Nas fan. And although the production doesn’t shine as much as most of the American Gangster remixes that were put out, it’s refreshing to here the original samples on here. I know a lot of people had problems with the production of American Gangster, but I loved it… particularly the samples used.
Anyway, this is worth checking out… Thanks to WYDU for the link!
Thanks to my man Que R!CO for stopping by yesterday and sharing the link to his remix project for Luda’s Release Therapy. This was put out last year, but I could never get on datpiff to download it. Thanks to Que R!CO and MegaUpload, I’m bangin’ this in my headphones right now!
I’ve been a fan of Ludacris since the early days. His lyrical delivery and unique music videos make Luda stand out from the crowd. I bought all of his albums, except for Release Therapy. I just wasn’t feeling it. Thanks to Que R!CO for bringing new life to this album. You all REALLY need to check this mix out!
The flip Que R!CO did on the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” is crazy! This production is so much better than Luda’s original. I still gotta skip “Runaway Love” though… they ain’t nothing that can help that song.

About “Runaway Love”, what I meant was that I didn’t even like the original. I can appreciate the topic, but Luda’s flow was ehh and don’t get my started on Mary J.. ugh!
K, you don’t like Mary J or Nas? two legends in their own genre
Damn, did I diss both of them in one post? Yup, guess I did! LOL… I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Nas hasn’t had a solid album since Illmatic. I don’t have anything against him; he’s got some good songs, but that’s about it. A lot of people say he’s a great storyteller. Maybe that’s what I’m missing… I don’t listen to lyrics much; more into beats.
As for Mary? She’s got some good songs as well, but I never did dig her voice. I guess if she were easier on the eyes… but she just don’t do it for me. You wanna talk legendary R&B singers? Chaka Khan baby! Beautiful voice and gorgeous too, IMO.
Agreed about Chaka. Nas is a great story teller, his only drawback is tht he doesn’t pick the best beats, but lyric for lyric he’s in the top 5. Mary J. is soulful and I’m not a fan of modern day R & B
