This Is Hip Hop Remix Contest: Week 2

So here we are… WEEK 2 of the contest. There was a lot of great talent in week 1’s entries so I’m excited to hear what you all will do with this next one. Before I get into this week’s track, I just want to recap the details of the contest.

So here’s the deal… for the next 12 weeks, we’re gonna hold a weekly contest… 12 weeks/12 mixes. The way it’ll work is every Saturday night I will provide the song to be remixed for the week. There will be 2 links… the acapella and the song in it’s original version (for reference). You will have one week to complete your remix. Entries will be taken until 11:59pm EST the following Saturday. Then on Sunday morning we’ll have a new poll on the blog for people to vote for their favorite mix. Voting will take place for one week while the next mix is underway. At the end of the 12 weeks, I’ll put together a compilation album of all the winners for each week with a kick ass cover designed by Krome. Sound cool? I know some people are gonna be like, “what’s the prize?”. The prize is inclusion on the compilation album and exposure on this site. I got nothing else to offer.

To submit your entry: Upload your remix to one of your favorite file sharing locations (ie, Rapidshare, MediaFire, MegaUpload, ZShare, etc) and leave a comment in this post with your name and your link. DO NOT email me any links… they will be ignored. This process is to make it easier for me so I don’t have to post everyone’s links. The production is open ended (for now), meaning there are no stipulations. Original productions are highly encouraged, but blends will be accepted as well.

So in keeping up with the New York theme, you know we gotta do a joint by my man Busta-Bus. And what other song would be more perfect than “New York Shit”. This track is off of Busta Rymes‘ 2006 release The Big Bang. The original track features Swizz Beatz and was produced by DJ Scratch. Below are the tracks to download and good luck!

    Well, this is mine, kinda quick huh?
    It’s over a 9th beat, I wouldn’t dare take credit for this instrumental. But, it took me a few minutes to do.

    Yo, that’s an interesting take A.D. Like Krome said, the original beat is classic, so it’s kinda weird to hear another beat on this.

    I used the sample of Jose Gonzlez’s song ‘Heartbeat’

    Apart from the main sample the beat is entirely original with some other cuts thrown in to add to the nostalgic elements of the song.
