Clearly my remix needs mastering, but having listened to the others,.. it appears I am the only one to actually chop the vocal - everybody else just builds beats around the voice - which is nice, but doesn’t really constitute a remix - but what do i know eh ? Bloodclart Belgians !
i really like a bunch of these beats, but i wish people would have listened to the original so the acapella would line up.
Yeah, I’m gonna have to agree with you on this. A lot of hot beats, but the acapella was off on most of them. Watchmen got my vote… that sample just fit perfectly!
Wow Watchmen u crazy for the Beat!!! Sounds great!!
Yeah, lining up acapellas can be very tricky…
I’d love to get some constructive feedback bout my track, regardless if y’all didn’t like it, just let me know if what I’m doing makes you nod, starting with the question if you feel mine was off-beat too, cos if it was, I need to reconsider my method…
The competition’s definitely bananas, I think all the beats are dope, even if I personally don’t like the genre of some, but I’d be a fool to deny y’all got mad skills…
does mine match?
Axiom, as far as I see it, yours is fine. Flipped diffenrently, but the rappin still respects the speed of the kick-snare pattern
yeah i heard a line in the acapella about bonita applebum so i tried to incorporate those drums into it lol
the watchmens beat is ill but i think that should be on more of an amped track the vocals sound a little too laid back for it… sick nonetheless they get my vote lol
Aw, man, I’m kinda torn, it’s hard to choose, most are dope in their own way. Personally, my favorite beat is Hellface’s, but unfortunately that’s one of those where I feel the rappin’s off. I quite like Que Rico’s too, even if I immediately recognised the sample (MuahahHAHA ;-)).
But yo, I think I gotta go with the flow, I can’t front on the Watchmen, although I initially felt that it was a bit too self-evident using “Summer In The City” for a song about the summer, but the beat’s so nicely constructed I just have to give them mad respect
Well I think my acapella fit on the beat, personally I think OC’s beat is awesomely hot!! but The Watchmen has a good flow too.
QueR!CO, nice sampling dude!!
thanks madman.
i REALLY liked the Watchmen’s joint. propz to ya for that one !
thanx,4 the luv Carsten,Kevin,Axiom,Tommylux,Madman,QueRico.Lets keep pushin each other to the limit.
As we advance, so does Hip-Hop.
ONE
this is so sad. cats are remixing my track and i dont even know what they sound like. my internet at home is down and the speakers at work are fucked. anyway dbs played the Watchmen remix for me and that was sick. and to TommyLux, the use of the “summer in the city” line was perfect because thats the song i was thinking of when i wrote that first line. anyway, i hope to hear these soon. keep up the work fellas.
el bandito
haha, bandito, you definitely set my ass straight there… either way, as I said before, the Watchmen track is certainly the dopest, so it’s all good..
I hope y’all don’t think I’m tryin to be a bitch, just sayin what’s on my mind. I’d appreciate if others also criticised my stuff so that I might step my game up accordingly
I had to drop my vote for that Watchmen beat. You laid it down and stepped all over it. Congrats!
Yo, ya’ll should check out this mix over at 100dbs.com…

WELL LET ME START OF BY SAYING TOMMYLUX WAS OKAY I COULD SEE MYSELF LISTING TO IT IN THE SHOWER;2ND JAYE BUROUGH REMIX WAS JUST THAT ROUGH; BLINKY I THINK THE 2 HOUR INTRO TO THE ACTUAL SONG WAS WOW A BIT MUCH; MADMAN I THINK R KELLY THING WAS A BIT PANSY AND NOT WAS I WANT TO HEAR WHEN I LISTEN TO THAT SONG YOU GUYS MAKING THE BEATS GOT TO THINK ABOUT THE SONG TO NOT JUST WHAT YOU SOUNDS OKAY DO ME A FAVOR NEXT WEEK IF YOU HAVE THE SAME THING JUST BOW OUT; O.C WOW WHAT CAN I SAY THAT SOUNDED LIKE IT CAME FROM THE BEACH BOYS GREATEST HITS; QUE RICO MORE LIKE QUE ES ESO (WHAT IS THAT FOR THOSE WHO AREN’T IMMAGRANT FRIENDLY) THE WATCHMAN WAS REALLY THE ONLY ONE I CAN SEE MYSELF CRUISING TO IN MY RIDE OR PLAY AT A PARTY GOOD JOB WATCHMAN P.S. CAN SOME LET MALICIOUS PIG KNOW THAT THAT THIS IS HIP HOP AND NOT A TECHNO SITE THANKS…. THANKS LAX2DCA 1
jeez guy (LAX@DCA) relax, whats with all the hate? these cats are just trying to make some music, there’s no money involved just art and people who dig art. you can criticize without being dare i say it…an ass hole. atleast you have good taste, watchmen did their thing, but i dont see your remix anywhere up here. thats it from me.
el bandito
WELL BANDITO DARE I SAY; I GIVE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM YOU KNOW A PERSON INTENDING TO UPLIFT THE OTHER PERSON MATERIALLY,MORALLY,EMOTIONALLY (AND IN THIS CASE ARTISTICALLY)HENCE THE WORD CONSTRUCTIVE IS USED SO THAT SOMETING (IN THIS CASE THE BEAT) WILL BE PUSHED TO A NEW LEVEL NEXT WEEK AND WILL ALSO ALOW THE ARTIST TO GROW. SO BANDITO DARE I SAY B4 YOU THROW OUT ANOTHER OBTUSE STATEMENT READ IT FOR WHAT IT REALLY IS…AND YOU ARE RIGHT BANDITO I DONT HAVE A REMIX AND NIETHER DO YOU OR THE OTHER MILLION PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD YOU SEE WHEN YOU MAKE OR LISTEN TO MUSIC IT IS AN EMTION ITS A WAY TO ESCAPE YOUR PROBLEMS TURN YOU BACK ON THE WORLD OR TURN TO IT, GET HAPPY, REMEMBER GOOD TIME AND REMEMBER BAD,KEEP IT IN YOUR CD CASE AND IN YOUR HEART, CONNECT WITH A LOVED ONE OR A FRIEND… THIS WEEK I CONNECTED WITH A TRASHCAN CAUES THATS WERE I WOULD HAVE PUT MOST OF THESE REMIXES IF I HAD THEM…TO END NO DISRESPECT TO THE ARTIST ON HERE I COMEND YOU ALL FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO, JUST GIVING YOU ALL SOME REAL FEEDBACK 1 LAX2DCA
here’s some constructive criticism: learn how to use punctuation. trying to read that pile of shit was torture.
i think the reason el bandito was calling you out is because most people would rather give shine to the good shit than drag the bad shit through the dirt. also, he didn’t have a beat on here because he’s an MC, not a producer. you know, that’s his voice on the acapella.
take a valium, smoke a blunt, or both..
Jesus, LAX. For the most part everyone here is having fun and sharing music. I have been getting some really great constructive criticism on my remixes, so I am not sure I understand your point about “real feedback.” But seriously, put up or shut up, my man. There are a lot of fast talking know-it-all’s out there but only a handful of real heads really going with what they’re feeling. Just relax, dude. Hell, I’d love to see what an expert such as yourself could produce; why not join in? Most of the dudes coming into this contest seem stoked just to have a network to share their work, to be able to actually talk about music. Take a minute to think about why your comments are stirring up such hostility. Could be…that maybe…just maybe…your fingers are moving faster than your brain, son. Puctuation, brother - learn it.
CHECK IT OUT HELLFACE AND 100DBS YOU ALL ARE RIGHT IN SOME POINT AND YES I CAN TAKE CONSTRUTIVE CRITICISM TOO EVEN IF IM NOT ON HERE WITHOUT BEATS.. AND 4REAL I FEEL YOU BOTH I THINK THIS IS A GREAT SITE AND A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THESE GUYS TOO GET OUT THERE AND LIKE I SAID NO DISRESPECT TO ANYONE AND IF YOU ALL FEEL THAT WAY MY BAD AND MAYBE I WILL SMOKE A JOINT 100DBS GOOD IDEA 1
“QUE RICO MORE LIKE QUE ES ESO (WHAT IS THAT FOR THOSE WHO AREN’T IMMAGRANT FRIENDLY) ”
hahahahahaha…. “immagrant” ?!?!?! oh my god, i think he actually might be a 12 yr. old !
1. i’m not an IMMIGRANT, son. i’m a legal US citizen & that statement you said was racist.
2. you’re ignorant… go back to school & get an education. you REALLY need it !
3. go kill yourself.
i couldn’t really give a damn if anyone thinks my music is “good” or not. at the end of the day, i just do it for me, myself, & i (i’m pretty sure every producer on here feels the same way).
if you like it then that’s cool & i appreciate the love. if not, then it doesn’t really bother me. there’s more important things in life than making people want to like you. YOU CAN’T STOP ME. WHY ? BECAUSE MY LOVE FOR MUSIC IS TOO LARGE & TOO STRONG.
that is all.
Wow, I was wondering why my email was flooded with comments! Yo, this is crazy… LAX, there’s a difference between constructive criticism and straight hatin’. There’s so much negativity in the world; let’s keep the one thing that we all have (hip hop) on the positive tip. I understand that you may have made your comments to entice those to step up their game, but it also discourages those who are nervous to post their work. I wanna hear that kid that spends all night in his bedroom making beats… that kid that’s too shy to let his music be heard… let that voice sing! It’s comments like yours that bring people down and intimidate them to want to share their love for hip hop. And dude, the caps lock is to your left, right above the shift key.
LOL SON
1. IM NOT YOUR SON
2. KILL MYSELF LOL WITH YOUR SKILLS YOU PROBIBLY COULDN’T KILL YOURSELF IF TRIED TOO.
3. I SAID MY PART AND THATS IT FOR HOMIE WE ON THE INTERNET NOT THE STREET SO TALKING SHIT DOES NONE OF US GOOD… JUST PUSHING YOU SO NEXT WEEK MAYBE YOUR SHIT WILL BE ON TOP AND KEVIN IS RIGHT THIS IS A POSITIVE SITE FOR ALL THOSE YOUNG GUYS OUT THERE AS I SAID B4
P.S. I KNOW WHERE THE CAPS LOCK KEY IS kevin
so, anyone read any god books lately?….
Naw, Hellface, but I might WRITE one after this contest, as this is turning into a real emotional drama / thriller…
All I can say is that I’d rather have loads of - say - controversial, if not shit-stirring comments than none at all. It’s a good sign that shows how alive and kickin this site is.
As for criticism, I agree that it’s best when constructive (like “change the snare drum, choose a different sample, etc.). On the other hand, cats who don’t produce themselves will give you the same criticism or reaction you’d get from your average music consumer outside, so if your shit doesn’t grab them right away, they will actually “throw it in the trash can”, speaking metaphorically.
I’m actually quite happy with wath LAX said about mine… if he can see himself listening to my shit while taking a shower, that’s beautiful… next stop will be the bedroom…
