Week 6’s track to remix was probably the most classic track we’ve done yet.  Who doesn’t know Pharcyde’s “Passin Me By”? Well the remixers definitely stepped their game up this week, cuz I had one hell of a time determining a winner.  On top of that, Thomas went on vacation and I had no guest judge lined up this week, so it was just me, myself, and I.  No help whatsoever; although I did peak at the polls.

After much deliberation,  here is my top 10…

10.  BLINKY - I was NOT expecting to hear this sample on this track.. nice use!  The chorus ruined it for me though.  It was a nice try to switch it up, but didn’t work for me.

09.  One Mic - wasn’t sure about the Isley Bros. sample at first, but it worked out really well… very listenable.

08.  Dyno - smooth remix… nice sample.  I was definitely noddin’ my head.

07.  Dutchmasters - this was cool… I liked it a lot. Not repetitive whatsoever and the sample worked well.

06.  infO - bring on that boom bap homie!  This remix was very minimalistic, but extremely hot!

05.  Mystro - you had me mesmerized with that upright bass intro.  Whole thing sounds like something Miles Davis would fuck with.  Vocals tend to runaway a tad and the beat could have been switched up later, but props for the style!

04.  Abstrakt Soundz - dude, I just love your sound!  Like all your other remixes, this one works well.

03.  S.T.T.R.E.S.S. - probably one of your best remixes to date.  The chorus was tight!  And what I love the most about your remixes is how they build… always a subtle difference in each verse.  Keep bringing it!

02.  Garcia’s Grooves - this was a tough choice between you and G.C.  I love everything about this remix and probably wouldn’t change a thing.  I think your remixes have been highly overlooked each week.  Keep doin’ you!

01.  G.C. - wow!  That’s all I have to say.  Week after week you out do yourself.  I would love to get this remix to Pharcyde, cuz I think they would be proud of this.  You made me forget what the original song sounds like… and I’m fine with that.  I’m putting this on my iPod as a bonus track to Bizarre Ride II!

So, there you have it.  For all of you that are discouraged by G.C. winning week after week, I’m officially taking him out of the contest for week 7 (the “Victory” remix).  G.C.’s gonna be our guest judge…  should be fun!
