Khia “K-Swift” Edgerton, one of the city’s most popular radio DJs and performers, died early Monday morning after a pool accident at her home. She was 29.
The cause of death was unclear, but an autopsy was planned.
According to a preliminary police investigation, Edgerton, who lived in the 4300 block of Arizona Ave. in Northeast Baltimore, had been hosting a party at her house through Sunday evening and into early this morning. Police investigators believe she may have been drinking, said agent Donny Moses, a Baltimore Police Department spokesman..
During the party early this morning, she jumped into her above-ground pool with several other people, but didn’t resurface. About six or seven other people were in the pool, which was about four or five-feet deep, during the time she had jumped in. After an unspecified period of time, her friends pulled her onto a metal-frame deck that adjoined the pool, and called 911.
When paramedics arrived, they discovered that Edgerton was breathing “very shallow and her pulse was weak,” Moses said. She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was pronounced dead soon after her arrival.
R.I.P. K-Swift
Edit… it seems that my delivery of this news has offended some people because I chose to acknowledge NY’s DJ K-Swift. I do sincerely apologize to those people. I’m not very good when it comes to this sort of news and though it is a tragedy, facts do need to be reported. Also, NY’s DJ K-Swift has just announced that he will be changing the spelling of his name to K-Swyft out of respect to Ms. Edgerton.

Thanks for clearing this up Kev……
New York’s DJ K-Swift
Da Bronx Blend King
Maybe it is just me, but the way you provided this information makes you seem really shallow. It seems like you are saying “It’s OK everyone the person we actually like is doing just fine, it’s some other girl that died.” DJ K-Swift is a legend in the Baltimore club scene and she is a well known and respected DJ. I think the article could’ve made the point equally clear by focusing on the death of a great DJ and detailing her accomplishments. People should have been able to determine it wasn’t their precious blend king from reading a well written article.
See, I knew someone would take offense to way this was written. That wasn’t my intent and if you are offended, I apologize.
No disrespect intended on Kevin’s behalf. He’s just trying to clear things up and show respect as we all should towards a big loss to the dj and Bmore community. Out of sheer respect for Khia, I decided to change the spelling of my name. Nothing that we say or do will seem to be “right” because of the emotions running through everyone’s soul. RIP K-Swift….you’ll be missed!!!!!!!
she’s beautiful,.,god bless her soul
I’m not offended by what you put, but if you want to clear some stuff up, she was born in ‘80, not ‘78(your photo), and she’s only 27, not 29(your headline).
Damn, I can’t get anything right with this one… thanks RoyalBeatz07
