Blueprint 3 To Be Released 4th Quarter ‘08

No it has not been confirmed and you can blast me now for starting the rumors.  But mark my words… Jay-Z will release a new album 4th quarter of this year.  Will it be called Blueprint 3? Very possible.  If the video above ain’t enough to convince you, just look at Jay’s track record…

  • In My Lifetime, Vol 1 - November 1997
  • Vol 2… Hard Knock Life - September 1998
  • Vol 3… Life & Times of S. Carter - December 1999
  • The Dynasty: Roc la Familia - October 2000
  • The Blueprint - September 2001
  • The Blueprint 2 - November 2002
  • The Black Album - November 2003
  • RETIREMENT
  • Kingdom Come - November 2006
  • American Gangster - November 2007
  • Blueprint 3 - November 2008 [my prediction]

Rumors of Blueprint 3 started at the beginning of the year when DJ Clue shouted “Blueprint 3!” all over what turned out to be an old Jay/Timbo track (”Ain’t I”).  Then, just a month ago, Timabland announced to MTV that he would be producing Hov’s next album.  Jay later denounced those rumors stating that the music will decide if Timbaland produces the whole album or not and said everyone, from Kanye to Just Blaze, has a shoot at a fully produced album.

Enter the above video… it speaks for itself.  Blueprint 3 in 4th quarter ‘08?  I’d bet money on it.

Impressive… I think he did his best with ‘kingdome..’ and it was fair, but didnt leave any remarkable tracks, then ‘American Gangster’which was very boring productionwise - Im glad that the acapellas came, so we could do the album ourself… Who haven’t remixed a Jay track ? And hands down… Dont we just love our own tracks the most ?
When that is said and done, Jay really did it on the clip… And he is a performer, so we should get excited…

American Gangster boring productionwise?! This has to be his best produced album since the Blueprint!

I hope you’re right, Kev, we could always do with new Hov. American Gangster was a great album, in my top 5 Hov albums of all time.

We all have our personal favourite artist-producer combos we’d love to hear. Jay has so many producers he’s made great music with - Just Blaze, The Neptunes, Kanye, Timbo.. wouldn’t mind an album exclusively produced by any of them!

I agree with lesiki, American Gangster was very impressive production-wise. I wouldn’t say best produced since Blueprint (The Black Album is my all-time fav), but AG’s production was amazing.

To further back up this post, Nah Right just posted this clip from Shade45 where Jay called in this morning and spoke a little about Blueprint 3…

Basically he says it is coming out, but not sure if it’ll be this year. I still think it’ll be this year.

I will never complain about a new Jigga album. Listen to “Kingdom Come” earlier this week. Not as bad as I remembered it. That album suffered from poor song placement. 4 of the first 5 songs were produced by Just Blaze. They should have been spread out throughout the album.

Jigga needs this production line up:

    Preemo- 4 tracks
    Timbo- 4 tracks
    Kanye-2 tracks
    Just Blaze- 2 tracks
    Bink- 1 track
    The Neptunes (the single)-1 track

Guest only two: Beanie Sigel or Freeway and Nas (but only on Preemo track).

I swear by Vol. 2 and its greatness as a 2nd album and follow up to a classic album.

Kev,you should be burnt at the stake for leaving out Reasonable Doubt on that list ha,ha,but i’m just saying…….

Whoa, whoa whoa! Let me explain… Reasonable Doubt wasn’t on that list cuz it was released in June and doesn’t support my 4th quarter theory. Guess I should have made that list a little more clear.

I may have to revisit Kingdom Come… Thomas may have something there. It’s always been my least favorite Jay album. Should we do a Jay list? Best to worst? Here’s mine (not including collabo albums)…

    1. The Blueprint
    2. Reasonable Doubt
    3. The Black Album
    4. American Gangster
    5. Dynasty - Roc La Familia
    6. In My Lifetime, Vol 1
    7. The Blueprint 2
    8. Vol 3… Life & Times of S. Carter
    9. Hard Knock Life, Vol 2
    10. Kingdom Come

First of all I’m a Jay stan his release dates are like events to me! I can’t wait already!! Come on isbjerg boring production wise!? It was right online with Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint as far as every track just flowing together and the lyrics was crazy just in case people thought he was slippin’ on Kingdom Come (I personally thought the album was dope) To Thomas Vol.1 had some crazy joints everybody probably was looking for Reasonable Doubt 2 that’s why some people diss it but these two tracks “The City is Mine” “I know what girls like” I hate those tracks!! lol
    Kev here’s mine

    1. Blueprint (Lyrics crazy, production so soulful!!)

    2. Reasonable Doubt (Lyrically better than Blueprint IMO It’s really a toss up between Blueprint can’t go wrong picking either #1)

    3. American Gangster ( Lyrics crazy, production crazy actually the best album I heard since Blueprint)

    4. Black Album (Lyrics crazy, production on point even though I could do without “Change Clothes” and “Justify My Thug”)

    5. Hard Knock Life, Vol. 2 (Lyrics crazy, production on point, even though the last three songs are dope it was filler material we had already heard those tracks could of been three brand new tracks)

    6. Dynasty Roc La Familia (Lyrics crazy I see a trend! lol production pretty much on point! “This can’t be Life” was a standout track, Freeway had a scene stealing verse on 1-900-Hustler as well as Bleek on “You Me Him and Her. Good thing he changed Parkin Lot Pimpin from being the first single.)

    7. In my Lifetime Vol. 1 (It’s some crazy joints on here but refer up top to the songs that I hate!)

    8. The Blueprint 2 (Blueprint 2 was all over the place if he would have put like the dopest 15 tracks on one disc and not that Blueprint 2.1 would have been higher on the list)

    9. Kingdom Come ( I swear this album was dope some of the subject material he could of did without “30 Something” if you’re 30 something or creepin’ close to it you love it lol. Could left the strip club material on “Anything” to Shawty Lo or somebody and despite her talent leave Beyonce off future albums.)

    10. Vol 3… Life & Time of S. Carter (My least favorite HOV album outside the singles he dropped don’t care for this album. “So Ghetto” “Dopeman” “Come and Get Me” are crazy but that’s all even the posse cut was wack! The intro/outro should been one joint and he didn’t need this hidden bonus tracks once again could of been new material)

    1. The Blueprint - I feel that album.. I’ve wanted to remix it for a while, but didnt have the artist to fusion him with..

    2. Reasonable Doubt - A nice introduction to a GOAT.. You can sense that he want it so much..

    3. Vol 3… Life & Times of S. Carter - With that album I just kept finding new things in the productions..

    4. The Black Album - I think the album were to short.. A great ride that stops to early..

    5. American Gangster - The lyrics were great, and after a quick listen I decided to lay the album away and replace it with my own… But the lyrics alone gets a 5th..

    6. The Blueprint 2 - The sequel to blueprint, and have tracks, that should have been back in the lab for more… Jay’s lyric was good, but some of the productions and guests should check themselves..

    7. Hard Knock Life, Vol 2 - I felt his bounce and after vol.1 he had to make it big… If he had done the same with BP vol. 1 and 2, it would be as great as the expectations of vol. 3..

    8. Kingdom Come - I didnt like the first single, and were a little so and so with some of the tracks, but it heats up at the end…

    9. Dynasty - Roc La Familia - Jigga delivers, but the roc family gets boring in the length..

    10. In My Lifetime, Vol 1 - I liked some of the numbers, but its the most commercial album and it shows thats he broke through with reasonable and wants to stay in the game….

My opinion ! Call me nuts, but thats how I feel about Jigga..I rarely thinks that Jiggas doesnt deliver, but the production have throughout the last couple of years been inhouse and it need a little bite…

    My Jigga list:

    1. Reasonable Doubt- No need to comment. Lyrics, production were on point. Took many listens to catch what he was saying.

    2. Vol 1.- If anything I would replace “I Know What Girls Like” and “Sunshine”. Not that “Sunshine” was a bad song, I just remember the terrible video that ruins it for me. “City is Mine” love the lyrics. I thought this was/is one of Jay’s most introspective albums. “You Must Love Me”, “Lucky Me”, “Streets is Watching”, etc. All great songs.

    3. Blueprint- Production was great. Lyrics were on point. Nice flow to the whole album.

    4. Dynasty Album- I thought Bleek and Beans did a great job of playing second chair on this joint. 2nd behind Vol. 1 regarding Introspective. If you can’t feel some type of way after hearing “Where Have You Been” and ” This Can’t Be Life” I don’t know what to tell you.

    5. The Black Album- Great way to end a “career”. Production was on point and had some real bangers. I could have done without “Justify My Thug”. “Change Clothes” is the needed Neptune’s single.

    6. American Gangster- Nothing is wrong with this album. Jay’s lyrics are always on point, the production is great, love the way the songs were arranged. I can’t put it higher right now (I’ve had it higher in the past list I’ve done), because it hasn’t stood the test of time that the others above have.

    7. Vol 3- I think his most slept on album. “Come Get Me” is about 6 mins of the best Jay you’ll get. Timbo kills the track and some more subtle jab’s at Nasir. Could have done without maybe one track. Mad that “Is That Yo Bitch” and “Hova interlude” (when he is talking about Bleek and Beans as his Peter and Paul) didn’t make the US release.

    8. Blueprint 2- Needed to be one album. Nice idea.

    9. Vol 2.- In college this album got many spins. This is the one that made Jay a star. Best selling album to date. Some nice bangers on it, just too many guest for me.

    10. Kingdom Come- Not as bad as I thought. Just doesn’t match up with the others above. However, I’ll take this over most the new releases nowadays. I can appreciate the attempt to address “adult themes” and make that “mature music”.
