G.C.- This is a mean track. Perfect intro. About Bruce, Some of his best stuff is in those documentaries- the guy was nuts about his vision; like a Buster Keaton or any of these other guys who would take after take to get it just right. How do you feel about the Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story?

Trackfiend- nice track; you got something soulful but mean there. Check out The Streets by Bone Thugs N Harmony; you and will.i.am are thinking alike.

Isberg- dope intro! Bass and the kung fu flute- you find some great instruments. I'm really liking those plucks in the verse two.

Tommy, hell of a track to go out on. One of my favorites- when those drums kicked in...

SND- birdshit? This is an aggressive track- nice little pianos, and some big strings. Simple but strong.

JFK- I wish you had found us earlier. Excited to hear what else you got. Grabbed dad's record collection out of the attic and went straight out of the basement with this track.

Nice. Also I really enjoyed your American Gangster remix album. Man I wish I knew what you sampled for the Fallin remix. Best track on the album hands down.

Dutch - I own every Bruce Lee film made, including the lost interviews and documentaries showing the original version of Game of Death the way it was meant to be viewed.

Your beat's got that Miami Vice meets Magnum PI flavor, and Meth rides the beat well!

What's up everybody

http://www.zshare.net/audio/17409460f6ee9c02/

Here's my remix for this week.
Inspirations for this week's track-
Prince sample stipulation last week- had to go back and get more prince,
Dope Boys- best track on the new game album in my opinion,
a buddy at work who drinks 5 monsters a day, and eats nothing but aderol,
Tokyo Cigar for putting some drama on this beat first, Jockin Jay-Z and the Oasis mash ups,
Lil wayne standing on top of a limo playing guitar in the lollipop video- only time I think Weezy's ever inspired me- maybe also the beat he snagged for best rapper alive.

This is some grizzly bear eating the hunter shaolin style, but when meth starts screaming on the hook, I felt like it might work.

I haven't listened to the others yet, but the martial arts talk is awesome. I'm more of a Bruce Lee guy; first violent movies my family let me watch growing up. Going up against Kareem, kicking out a light bulb on the ceiling, fighting the claw in the mirrors, killing Chuck Norris at the coliseum...

And the Woo, man, can't believe my dad let me watch those as a kid. That hospital shootout was a like a video game.
peace

Thanks for your input guys... both of you make valid points. Those thoughts hadn't crossed my mind. I guess we'll see how it all pans out. MIDI's a good guy and I know he doesn't mean any harm with using the Dilla beats. I really hope he doesn't get too much flack.

@kev...people are just touchy when it comes to people rapping over those beats, it definitely doesn't make any sense, because you're right, it HAS been goin on for years and years; it's just the circumstances surrounding dilla's passing, an the fact that those beats would have been used to make some leeway on his hospital bills but nobody wants them because everybody and their mom has had them since 2003...not sayin i have a problem with it, i just know midi is gonna see some hateration eventually

Yo, Kevin, I put that link up cuz I figured that was kinda what Small P was referring to. I see what you are saying though, about people been freestyling over other peoples beats forever. I feel ya , its not like he's trying to make money off it. Personally I think 99% percent of the songs people do over his beats, don't add anything to the game.
The Red is one of my favorites. But, I'm not feeling MIDImarc's version. No disrespect to MIDIMarc. For me to like someones freestyle over a Dilla beat, they have to murder it. My expectations go way up, if you are tryin to go in over one of my favorite tracks, by any producer for that matter. As for the beef, Small Pro referred to, I would imagine its more to do with the "unreleased" beats you mentioned in the post. That is where you are taking food out of someones mouth, or at the very least, showing disrespect. Thats to say if you are not paying for them. And, from the sound of that article, I doubt the Yancey Fam is being paid for the "unreleased" beats. I def have more of an issue with that. If that is the case. But, as a Dilla fan. I still collect as much of his work as possible, but I always pay for official releases when made available. Even if I download something made available online, I buy it when its available. That goes for any artist. I think I rambled enough. Just my 2 cents.

I'm looking at the download counter...thanks to everyone whos already downloaded the joint. I do plan on promoting the product when its finished to make money. The difference between my tribute and the others is that the procedes are actually going to go to Dilla's foundation

After I heard "a letter to the king" feat. NAS and "Angel" feat. Common (both produced by kanye to the) I was expecting a lot more. Those joints are fresh to death... too bad the rest of the album couldn't keep up

I was feeling the new Game CD, I've had some time to ride around and listen to it a few times and I think overall its a really good CD. The DMX intro/outro sets the tone for the rest of the CD. My only complaint really is the tone, its really kind of somber and its missing a true BANGER. I know this was made during some of the Games darker times and the CD's tone really reflects that. More of a smoking and riding listen than a kicking it listen.

Now as far as guests are concerned, to me it didn't really take away from the listen experience as a whole as it only really bothered me on the Ludacris assist Ya Heard. I could of done without Luva Luva on that track.

Pros: production was sick, lyrically on point (name dropping is not a sin, Swagger jacking and blatant rip offs of other peoples material is {see: Jay-Z}), content goes from thought provoking to mindless in the matter of seconds (a little something for everybody).

Cons: Length, tone, and lack of a true stand out joint (IMO).

Highlights: State of Emergency, Angel, Ya Heard's (production), Letter to the King (message), Cali Sushine.

I don't mean to hate on The Game, these were just my first impressions of the album. With so much hip hop coming out, an album really has to catch my attention initially for me to give it a chance. This didn't do it (other than the Raekwon track). But like Carsten said, everyone has an opinion.

yeah, nofrillz, that Shad is pretty nice!

Wow, I didn't expect this kind of response! Good article... thanks JayPlus. But I don't see anything that MIDIMarc is doing wrong here, nor is he doing anything that hasn't already been done before. MIDI's not making any money off of Dilla. His music is available for free. What's so different about what MIDI is doing than all the freestyles we've heard on hip hop mixtapes for years?

I'd love to hear more thoughts on this. And why would there be BEEF? Over unused Dilla beats?
